    Default Monkey Comes to Life!

The monkey came from Shapeways, and with little "monkeying" around with it, it works! I wish I could have matched the paint exactly, but it still looks good (in my eyes). I posted this as a separate thread because I'm attaching pictures of the machine that I neglected to post I the original, along with the now installed monkey, and the Elex Rotary mechanism.

'Elex Rotary' is 1970's Japanese for "electric shooter" I suppose! I understand that machines of this vintage aren't commonly found with an electric shooter.

That is very interesting! Seems like the vintage machines converted to electric shooter retained the flipper, and you could shoot balls either way.

No flipper, only a knob. The knob is connected to a micro-switch; when you turn the knob, it starts the motor going that drives the shooter, and controls the return spring tension that governs how far the balls go into the field. There is another micro-switch connected to a push button on the knob itself; when it's pressed it stops the motor so the payer can adjust for the 'sweet spot'. Unfortunately with the Elex Rotary, if it's not connected to power, it can't be played unless you reach to the back of the machine, and move the piece the motor engages to 'flip' the balls.

Twins right down to the Pachinko Palace stickers! Of course, now that the monkey is in place, I have trouble getting a ball down the center (why am I not surprised?). Eventually, I will make a wall cabinet for mine as well.

I think Elex Rotary is just the model name like an Oui Umi or Shiroi Karome. I believe most Elex Rotary do not have electric shooters. Yours is a nice find.

Apparently I was wrong. Seems like I have seen knobs with flippers. I tried to enlarge the pics from the previous link...but I'm not a electro shooter club member. Kind of a bummer. Other forums prevent enlargment of pics if you are not a member. Once you are a member of a forum I don't see why you have to be a member of the group to enlarge the pics.
I still want a vintage with an electric shooter.

Nice to see the monkey fit as it should. Also great job with the painting.

Hope there wasn't much in terms of trouble installing it all.

    100 machines and counting...

Thanks Max. No real problems at all. The counterweight I made turned out to be a hair too light; I tinned it with solder, and it ended up perfect.
