Default Open a Pachi Parlor UK?

    Hi All,
So what about opening a pachi parlour in the UK?
The pachislo machine in the Uk falls under Skill with prize machine so there is no license needed to site them i also believe this would be true for the pachinko machine.
Its something that ive been thinking about lately. Im sure it would make a good business especially if you could get a license to sell alcohol as well.

    Does anyone have any thoughts?

    Regards
    Mat

From what I understand, the regulations are quite strict about what is and isn't allowed in each category.

A pachislo would not be allowed as a skill with prize. You would have to prove that the machine is purely controlled by the player and that there is no element of 'chance' controlled by the machine to be classified as a 'Skill with prize' machine. The illusion of the player being in control of the stopping of the reels on a pachislo would not pass this test.

A pachinko would also fail this test, as the winning/losing spins are also under the control of a random number generator (a requirement of the Japanese licence for these machines).

So it would have to be covered under 'amusement with prize' where licences are still necessary. Also the initial stake and the prizes offered are more strictly controlled in this category, and I don't think that you could set a standard pachislo to comply with these restrictions without modifying the software in some way. It is likely that they would be allowed under a betting shop licence, but these licences are hard to obtain and very expensive. Seeing as there are far more profitable machines than pachislo allowed under this licence, it's unlikely any current operator would consider siteing a pachislo machine.

You'd also be very unlikely to get an alcohol license on a premises that has a betting shop licence, or be allowed to place anything other than AWP/SWP in a normal location with an alcohol licence. The only way you could legally operate pachislo in the UK and also serve alcohol, would be in a licenced casino.
