    Default Need a little help

Need a little help. Bought this machine. It works well for awhile and then after it pays out and you drop another token in and the winner paid light stays on. Then you have no payouts. After playing it awhile the winner paid lite goes off and it quits paying.
Any help would be appreciated. It is electro mechanical. Don

Your hopper has 5c written on it. Do the dollar coins hang up? Back side of the hopper may have a wiper counter control. Alignment on that can cause some troubles if the rubber stopper is worn down. Prevents proper payout reset.

No hang up in the dollars. After a few spins with the winner paid on lite all of a sudden you here a little noise whe you pull the handle and the light goes out. It is like a switch opened.

I would expect the winner paid light to go out as soon as the next coin is input after a win.

Solenoid release or reset is probably the noise you hear. Does it have the payout wiper?

Could also be just an intermittent signal from a dirty contact in the payout circuit.

You are over my knowledge level. Will have to look for a slot mechanic.

Well accidents do happen. After playing this old machine I found a fix. Probably not the proper one but it works for me until I can find somebody that knows more than me. ( Will not take much lol. )

Interesting enough that I have been playing machines like mine for forty years or more. The fix came while trying to figure out why the winner lite did not go off after a win. With the light on the machine would not pay out.

I pulled the handle after a non win and a win came up it would pay. If the win light stayed on it would not pay until after some pulls it would go off.

After playing it for quite awhile I discovered if when you had a win, when you pulled the handle, if you held it for a couple of seconds the win lite goes off. Thereby paying out correctly on the next win. Maybe this will give somebody a thought on what is wrong but that does not mean I can fix it. LOL

Sounds like needs slight adjustment on the zero stop. You can check this by pulling the hopper after a win to check the postion of the wiper to see if it returns to the zero position. If memory serves the zero switch should be making contact on zero position and the win light will shut off.

If you pull the hopper, you should see the payout wiper. The zero stop is a little rubber stopper with possibly a nut to lock the position and a hexin the head to adjust it. Looks about the size of a pensil eraser.

Just going from memory... you want the zero stop to just open the contacts and on first coin payout to close the switch. Takes a bit of testing as this alignment can also cause short and over pays on the stepper payout.

Here is a cut and paste, used this info to correct payout isasues on an old nickle machine for a local fellow.

"The two types of 'zero stops' for the bally hoppers are the pencil-erasor type, which is adjustable by a nut and allen head screw. This kind allows you to move the stop up or down to adjust the zero position accurately. It is an improvement over the original. The original looked kind of like a rubber nickel, with a hole drilled offset. this offset allowed you to adjust the bumper eccentrically, either to a thin spot or a thicker spot depending on how you wanted the wipers to reset. When tightening the eccentric, you had to get it into position, and then firmly hold it in place with your thumbnail to get it to stay while you tightened the bolt.
After adjusting, if it is too far one way or the other, you will either have a 1 coin short pay, or an occasional 1 coin overpay, or unneccesary wear on your 100 tooth white nylon gear."

Well after calling everyone I could think of I called Terry.

    Terry at Newlifegames.com. 928-754-4147.

After explaining my problem he said I had a set of sticking points in the handle mechanism. He told to look on utube and I could find it their. Go down to the auto shop and get a can of point cleaner and an emory board. Their was a man shopping at the store and he told me the guy had given me the wrong type of cleaner and helped me get the right kind. Ask him if he would come over and help and he did. When I took the reels out he pointed out the bad set cleanned them and now it works great.
