thats great news. i take it you did the mod?
much more fun to play with a potential to win ten.
now to get the bonus sorted...

Yes, connected the 10 on the little board and cut the traces to the 5. I suspect one could leave both connected for a max 15.

    Now the transistor search continues.

any sort of general purpose transistor that would have likely been used? maybe based on other transistors in the machine?

Already tried the most commons and the same from the other boards. I suspect they are a bit odd.

    Bonus update.....
    It works20170429_220117.jpg20170429_220128.jpg

Decided to change the bulbs to led today. After led mod was complete I decided to check the bonus switch to confirm the led's in the center bonus circles and to my surprise the 4,8,9&13 all lit.

Reposition the switch into play and the machine now works and pays correctly. The small side board in NOT fixed and remains out of the machine.

Best guess at this point is possibly changing the max pay from 5 to 10 changed the bonus control to main board.

Either way I am happy now.

That's great news. Having a bonus on these machines definitely increases the enjoyment. What type of LED mod did you do or rather, how?

Just a couple current limiting resistors directly on the LED's and used the existing silicon sockets. I use 2 to keep the size of the resistors small enough to get the wattage needed.20170430_082239.jpg

LEDs are the way to go on these machines. It surprises me how hot the original bulbs get but then again, they weren't designed to last long. I made LEDs similar to yours because of the heat issue and I used the original silicone sockets and a method I came up with which simply uses a couple pieces of wire insulation. The insulation acts as legs for the wires and adds rigidity. Later I had a bunch professionally made for my machines which are what the pics are of.

Very nice. I have also used the wire insulation when the silicon sockets are bad or missing.

I have one machine that my home made LEDs wouldn't work on. Once a number lit up, another number would glow dimly. I tried various combos of resistors but nothing worked so I'm running incandescents which work fine and they're cooler than the originals. I prolly should have had some professionally made for this machine but never got around to it.

Sounds like a bit of a ground loop or leaky component causing stray current on the ground. On my Fuji I lost a few LED's, but contibuted it to bad silicon sockets as each that failed was replaced with the wire insulstion and failures have ceased.

I figure it was something going on somewhere and LEDs are sensitive enough to utilize that current. I may try and sort it out one of these days.

I like the diodes on your boards. Great idea to protect the LED's. Have you tried those on that one?

I'm pretty sure I did and either they didn't work because any that I would have used were made for other machines and their voltages or they did work but I kept them in the machines they were made for. When I was having them made, the engineer had me measure each one's electrical specs.
this was all 6-7 yrs ago so I don't remember the specifics but I'm going to try and put the ones I had made in the machine in question because now I'm curious.
i wondered what those diodes were for...

Suspecting you had these made for a 28 volt machine, should still work fine on a 24 volt machine with about a 25% loss of current to the LED.

There were several voltages between machines. They were Taiyos and Satomis and voltages differed between males as well but you're right, they should still worked to an extent. I'll report back with what I find out.
