Default X-Box Basic info for a newbie

    Long story short
I was given an xbox 360 last night. Bare bones. the unit, power supply and usb cable.
Apart from a controller what is the minimum I need to play. Someone told me I need the special tv lead for it. Maybe a remote control as well. Plus of course a game.

I had an old original Xbox360, but don't ask me anything technical about it,

Upgraded to a new Xbox One S for my son for Christmas and purchased Live Gold subs so he could play with his friends etc

that's about as far as my knowledge goes

My son had gone through a few of these in his school days. Gee that seems so long ago now. HAHA

From what I remember, I don’t think that a remote control was needed. And the lead for the TV had a few options in the US. There was a basic-def setup and a high-def one depending on what style of TV you had and wanted to spend. We still have many second hand shops that trade in and resell these items.

I think that the game disks (and DVD player) are region coded as well if you get any sent to you. And then there is the headset and online pay account that will come along later to play against others.

The unit was originally brought in Bahrain and I believe its been unlocked to play UK games. It seems to be a later version and has an HDMI output as well. So might just need a controller and game. Think I'll head down to CEX (a UK pawn broker for entertainment equipment) to pick up a cheap controller and game for testing.

The Snes was too advanved for me. We never had a games console before just a Commodore Vic 20 followed by Amiga 500

Can't beat Monkey island on the Amiga 500 It was only 11 disks.
You could be up and running in half an hour
I think you can get something called a Super 8 Pro For the Snes now and download all the games on to a micro sd card
All the games you want English American & Japanese add up to about 2 Gig.
    I don't do this as i think it's naughty.
Try your local car boot for X box 360 stuff, always got it dirt cheep, or gumtree.
I always buy any leads i want for retro games off ebay from china cheeper than the uk.

any HDMI cable will work, so you just need a controller and game to get started.

you can sign up for the lower version of xbox online for free.
