I use an old bank counter, plug it in set the amount, hit button, hold bag, a minute later zip lock done. Granted it took a month of following coin counters on ebay till one came up cheap that was settable for different sizes and different amounts. I spent $60 bucks. But that was a while ago. It doesn't sort just counts, that's what I wanted.

As one with a 30 pai extra hopper, it sounds fun to do for skilttles and grins.

Not sure if this counts fast enough but here is an inexpensive counter that can be reset:

    http://www.goldmine-elec-products.co...tem=7&mitem=26

Get a coin counter, they can be set for batch count (say 50) and dispense fast.
Just got a Magner counter/sorter for $85 and man, it's fast. Also good if you get a mixed bag of tokens. Set it for the size of the tokens that work in your machine and it will reject the rest! No jams in your machines. Just be patient, inexpensive ones come up all the time.

Well I have it done and it works ok. But sometimes it misses a bunch of coins and it kinda ticks me off since I put so much work into it. Since it works based on an electric current passing through the coin, I can understand some error but its missing 2 coins out of 13 dispensed. I would really love it if 7 mile slots could tell me how he did his. I really dont think its a prob with the counter. Its the current passing through the coin thats screwing it up. I could use any suggestions. I also have the wire from the counter hooked up to thhe spring loaded nut/barrel thing on the hopper and another lead hooked up to the plate on the other side. I will post pix and instructions as soon as it works correctly. Thanks for any help!

I was just to 7mile and got an old hopper. I looked at his. The transformer is one used for a door bell at 24 volts. the switch that sends a signal to the counter is a momentary switch with a long thin arm on it. The same kind that you would see on the back of an old pachinko to make the lights work. They can be found in electronic sites. I do not have time right now to find a pic. of one. There is a cam on the bottom of the hopper that moves every time a token is spit out. That cam hits the switch and sends the signal to the counter. There is a switch to turn it off and on.

The hopper that Dave at 7mile uses had a 24 volt transformer on it. It was small like a normal on but newer door bell transformers are now 16 volt. I found a 24 volt but it is big and expensive. How do I test the motor on the hopper for how many volts it needs to operate? I can try different ones to see what works but just because it works does not mean it wont burn it up in time. Also that they do not make the packages of the transformers so you can reseal them. Then another question to the electronically gifted. 7mile used a switch to send the signal to the counter but on mine there is a censer already there. It looks like the ones on a coin mech or the miner reset on the door. Two metal cams slide in and out of between the u shaped censer. Do you think this will work to send a signal to the counter? Since this is probably what it is for in the first place, I think. The only problem would be there are three wires not just two. If I got the motor to work then a tester on the wires when a token is spit out if something registers on a meter this would be the wires to use right?

Hi. In order to use the sensor already there you would have to buy a counter with an optical eye port and those typically cost around $100-200. As for the transformer, I had tried to use one as my first choice but after recieving one from my local ace hardware, I realized the one I bought had too few amps and would not operate the hopper, so I returned it. When a coin is sensed the voltage drops to 0 typically, in my case and probably in yours, you will need the voltage to go from 0 to 3 or so to send the signal which is why that wont work. I finally got it working properly and within a tolerance of 1 : 500 which I think is good for a home creation. I could have gotten it to 100% I would have had to buy another switch off the internet which I didnt want to do. I used a momentary contact switch, I had leftover from my control board and hot glued it to the farthest point the coin would push the spring loaded cam. I then connected the wires to my solar calculator and it works amazing! I know I have been somewhat unreliable but you can expect pix and directions tonight.

yeah theres an easier way but it costs more money
i pretty much did it exactly like 7mile just without a lever switch. you will have to spend 20.00 more and buy the counter here: http://www.goldmine-elec-products.co...tem=7&mitem=26
the only reason i used a calculator is because i didnt want to spend any money. All you have to do is get the switch hot glue it into place and connect the leads of that to the counter and you're set. And of course plug the motor into a transformer.
