It is easier, faster and works better than the shoelace, in my opinion. I use about a 6' piece at a time, using a new portion of string on each nail.
I have to put tape on a few knuckles to prevent blisters...

    For what it's worth!

The metal plate in the first picture keeps coming loose and locking up marbles. Is there something I'm missing or not seeing that should hold it in place?

This was very helpful; thank you. The outer window polished-up to crystal clear, like the day it was made. The marble track plastics is what's yellowing it in the picture (I cleaned it too, with moderate success). It's still much better than before:

    Now you tell me!
Thanks for the tip. I cleaned the heads with cloth and polishing compound, but used strips of Miracle Cloth for the shanks. I think I would have liked the twine idea better.

i have never seen that piece loose before??? looking at your picture it looks like it was tack welded in place... you might try grinding on both faces with a dremel or such and then try some jb weld or epoxy to hold it in place

the view window looks much better

Two questions: Most of the balls go down the right side after hitting the bumper. Is this normal, or has the bumper hardened (the one that the ball first bounces off after shooting) and not giving the play it should? Also, are you supposed to have any control in how far to shoot, or is it only meant to be done at full force?

I believe I'm finished, so as promised:

    pachinko_front.jpgpachinko_front_after.jpgpachinko_playfield.jpg

    $54 - 4x plexiglass from Professional Plastics
    5 - JB Weld
15 - LED bulbs and 9v battery holder
    4 - 2 sets tulip crown stickers
    17 - Novus 7100 Plastic Polishing Kit
7 - Blue Magic metal polish
9 - 12"x12" Miracle Cloth (cut in strips)
    0 - Aluminum foil/water for rust
    -------
    $126

A bit more than I expected to spend, but I have the extra stuff it if I need them. Sure am glad I wasn't looking it as an investment.

Nice work. You will know soon if the bumper is dried out as it will start blowing bits on your playfield from the balls hitting it. I have replaced them with bungy cord (hard to cut and a bit to much bounce) and an eraser. I find the white eraser close to the bounce I like and much easier to cut to shape.

You can adjust the spring tension for the shooter so the launch will go as wanted.

I had no idea that the tension spring could be adjusted. Thanks for the help and patience.

It had an issue, which wasn't apparent until I adjusted the tension, where it would rarely load marbles unless the flipper was pulled completely down. Simply straightening the metal door--which was bowed a bit at the bottom--seems to have put it back into alignment.
