Back in the late 70's my parents bought this machine for me and my brothers. It soon jammed and was retired, placed in a loft for the next 35 yrs and left for dead, last yr my mother decides to place it outside on a covered porch waiting for it to be thrown out, yeah. When ever I would visit I would see it and just walk by, till three weeks ago I scooped it up and found this forum. I've cleaned it and have started a cabinet.

Thanks for the kind words folks. The ply is of a redgum species with a walnut trim. I'm gonna have a drawer front that folds down on hinges to access the balls, wasn't sure how to get them there so I made this sheet metal fixture, it's gonna have another piece on it to direct the balls into a bowl. The two shelves are adjustable, I was and still might make two raised panel doors, along with some mounding at top.

This is how I'll open the machine from the top. The first one I made broke because I tried to remove the machine from the cabinet with it still in it!

Yes it is. The problem with it is it only pays one jackpot then you have to reach around the back and pull a lever and I believe hit a button to get it to pay another jackpot, makes no sense.

makes total sense to me.. these comet II machine are notorious for sticky and slow/stuck parts.. needs a good cleaning.. very common problems..

What is a comet? I took this whole thing apart and brought all of the parts to the sink and cleaned real well. The chrome door trim was rusted and I had to paint that. I'll have to paint the blue plastic parts in front as there in terrible shape. It seems as though all the pcs move freely but I'm missing a part on the back. I'll post a photo and you'll know what's wrong with it.

See the copper looking piece with the wire I stuck in it? Idk what that's for. Then above it to the left there are two balls that tilt and feed it to allow an arm to catch a ball. It all works sparingly, it will give you the first jackpot and it might reload or not and give you another one! I have to tie that copper piece up for it not to jam.

there should be a rod connected to that to slow the jackpot cycle down.. i have seen machines that require that piece and other machines that i have removed to for the same reason and the machine works fine with out.. if your machine is working them dont worry about it

I think you'll need that rod on a Daiichi.

So ever since 79 when we first received this machine, that rod has been missing. I'll see if my mother can track down the guy who sold it to her, believe me she probably still has the invoice. Seems to be a common problem with these rods
