Default A rando with some questions about repair and pricing of some Nishijin machines

Hello there! I wasn't exactly sure where to post these questions so I thought I might as well say hello and ask them here.
As for introductions, I'm a programmer out of Austin who also does odd project repairs and kind of designs LED light projects.

A neighbor sold me a couple of Pachinko machines that seem to be in need of repair. I'm decently skilled at electronic repair and so I was looking for some advice. I will admit, part of my curiosity is a bit mercenary as I hope to sell the machines in question. Still, the challenge of repairing these devices is exciting.

I'm trying to figure out what I have on my hands here, and if they're worth repairing. I'm having some trouble identifying the dates on the stamps (Apparently I need to look for something like Shōwa 49?)

I haven't done a lot of electro-mechanical repairs but I'm pretty good with a soldering iron.

Any information or advice on these would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

And the other machine, which is a bit worse for wear:

two cool machines the first one is the better of the two and it requires power.. there are several thread about adding power to that "Power Flash" machine

the second is a neat themed machine but less valuable..

pictures of the backs would be a great help to evaluate them..

    and of course

Hello brendanh and welcome to the group!

Those are two nice looking machines! Like Moparformances said, pictures of the backs are helpful. Did you happen to get some pachinko balls with them? I'd say at least a couple hundred is a good amount for running through each machine for a shake down.

I got a feeling that you will enjoy these more as you work on them and you will keep them

I've seen prices ranging from $60 to some truly absurd prices for cleaned up versions of these but I guess the real question I should research is what kind of money I need to spend on parts. Someone had mentioned power transformers and I suppose that'll be my first stop.

lol actually you have the backs flipped .. the first one is the monkey and alligator and the second is your power flash..

this it the exact unit i use on my vintage machines that require power..

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Radio-Shack-...item4b0d5ae2f8

perfect for your power flash.. it will provide power for your original lights as well

Thank you for posting pictures of the back of your machine. I just purchased a machine.....very close to yours......and the pictures solved my wiring problem. Thanks again.
