This sticker is inside the plastic cover. It is attached to a second plastic cover inside the first. Does that make since?

We are guessing top row as the google translate for top row is: Board for external terminal. Second row is google translate: External terminal for the frame. I am new and not good at this.

The pictures show the Frame signals CN1-5 on the left quite clearly, but I can't read much of the cell signals CN1-5 on the right as they are more blurry with a bit of a reflection over the text.

    Frame Output Signals
    CN1 Brown - Bonus 1
    CN2 White - Prize Ball
    CN3 Black - Loan Ball
CN4 Red - Out of Balls
    CN5 Orange - Door Open

    Cell Output Signals
    CN1 Brown - Bonus 2
CN2 Red - something to do with time/timer
CN3 Orange - (can't make any of the kanji out)
    CN4 Yellow - V
CN5 Green - can only read 'zugara' so could be a spin or reach output

What type of machine is it? I wouldn't expect to see a 'V' output on a standard deji-pachi.

Looking at these machines, this may work:

    http://www.daiichi.net/pdf/sanyo/w53.pdf
    http://www.one-a.co.jp/pdf/gingira2.pdf

    Frame Output CN1 JACKPOT
    Cell Output CN1 KAKUHEN
    Cell Output CN2 START

    Cell Output Signals
    CN1 Brown - Bonus 2
CN2 Red - Special Design Decision Round
    CN3 Orange - Start Pocket
    CN4 Yellow - V
CN5 Green - Normal Design Decision Round

So the start input to the battle counter will likely go to CN3. Though I'm guessing that CN5 will probably pulse for each reel spin, so you could use that instead.
I'd try CN2 for the Kakuhen input, and CN1 for the Bonus. If the battle counter doesn't light up during all bonus rounds, then maybe move the bonus to the Bonus1 output on the frame output terminals, and try the Kakuhen input on the Bonus2 output.

Hmmm.......Tried daverob's plan a and plan b......and can not get the start to work at all. It goes up one start when you attach the plug, but then no more advances when a ball goes into the start pocket. Tried it on the reel spin and got the same thing. One advance when plugged in......then no other advances. The bonus when connected lights up all lights as it should, but then it (the battle counter)stays in the bonus mode......does not stop flashing.
    Does anyone have a plan c ?
Any help at all would be appreciated.

Sounds like the counter is getting a constant input on each connnector. Rather than just a pulse when triggered
