    Default Kyoraku Ultraman Taro

    Hi all,

I haven't been on here for a couple of years, but got the bug and bought via eBay the Ultraman Taro machine from Akimono. I've sent them an email asking for help, but thought that I would also try here. The screen is showing RAM, along with Japanese writing, and the recording says what I believe to reset memory switch. Anybody have any idea where that darn switch is? I've looked what I thought was everywhere but no luck.

    Thanks!

Hey John, nice machine! As DC says it is on a main central board. It is a red slotted push button (under a clear swing door) that you can push for a second while the machine is on. Mine does this every so often when unplugged long term. There will be a warning tone and message for about 30 seconds afterwards during a system self check. I'll post a pick if needed-trouble with uploading on my part for now.

Thank you so much for the help! I was able to reset the RAM, and holy smokes is that a cool machine! But....... now I have to ask, how the heck do you get to play? I've got all sort of menu screens that I was going through hoping to figure out to just turn the knob and go, to no avail. Can you all help me? *grins*

It is a fun machine but please be cautious if anyone around has photosensitive epilepsy or a related syndrome. I have warned my daughter and grandson not to play it for fear of seizures. I think there should be a warning on some of these machines, especially if you don't have any additional lighting on. It's pretty wild going through multiple bonus rounds back to back to back with only the machine lighting up the room!

    So onto the FUN!

Just load up your front and back hoppers and turn the shooter knob. (1500 balls is a good number to have on hand in my opinion. More is always better LOL.) There is a small thumb tab on the left of the knob that when pressed it will pause the shooting mechanism. This is useful when you find a sweet spot and you can pause the shooting and keep the knob in the same spot. The further turned to the right, the harder it launches the balls. Start with aiming down the left side to go in the center pocket. This will start the screen action for your chance at fever and bonus rounds. You will have some arrow prompts on screen for shooting to the right or left at times too.

The menus come up automatically after turning on and after being idle a while. These won’t need any changing for play. The best that I’ve figured out is that they can open up additional levels through the use of the QR codes which come up at times and are linked to pachiport.jp (pachilog):
    http://pachiport.jp/help/about_use_service/

Unless you are in Japan, you most likely need to use a VPN (virtual proxy network) to access their system and retrieve passwords to enter back into the machine. It’s a cool feature that some figured out but I have not been able to work out yet. I have not revisited it since March but there are links like this on PachiTalk.

I hope this gives you a good start - enjoy!!

(ps: did it come with a dongle for the back? this enables the shooter knob)

My AKB48 always brings up the set time and date screen when you do the ram reset.

Okay, if I remember correctly....... the dongle plugs into a what looks like a printer port, or an RJ21, ? Right? If so, then I didn't get one for the machine. Should I contact the seller for one, or?

Yes it is the port on the lower right hand side of the back. It is worth asking the seller if they meant to send you one. If they don't have extras then perhaps someone here will. I think most will work from other machines if you still have any? This picture is a sample of what I have on three of mine. I do need to swap mine around between a few machines until I get more.

If you are adventurous and handy with a soldering iron then you could make a bypass dongle. I haven’t been able to find the page with the parts list here on PachiTalk.

To make your game play more like that of the parlors then you could add a card reader by member Daverob. This allows you to use a smartcard for ball loaning along with use of the buttons and LCD screen near your front tray. Daverob has a card reader and emulator which can be bought separately or together. Stateside you can get them from Akimono or direct from Daverob in the UK.

I would suggest a regular bypass dongle to decide how much you like a certain machine before the added expense for this setup for any newbies out there. Because if pachinko turns out to not be for you then….. On the other hand this is an awesome addition to the game play. I only have one so far but do move it around to use on a few machines!

Yep, that's it. Completely blank. I reached out to Akimono for a dongle. Thanks everyone so much for your help!
