Default New Battle of Vader Owner and 1st time Pachinko owner questions

Hi! I am very excited to have found this board! I have just purchased my 1st machine.

I made a cabinet using one of the designs I found online. Put it in and turned it on, but have a few odd questions:

1- Do they make a manual for this thing I can buy somewhere? I cant seem to find one.

2- There is no sound. I found the two volume controls, and turned them both up all the way, half way (in the event i was going the wrong direction) with no sound. I figured out how to turn the volume all the way up on the machine but still no sound.

3- Gameplay... no idea what is going on, no sound does not help... but is there a "how to" somewhere?

Thanks, if this information is on the board somewhere I am sry, i could not find it...

A very cool machine... but this is going to drive me nuts... lol

    Tony

There usually won't be sound until you get a ball in the start pocket..So is it making no sound when the reels (numbers on the screen) are spinning??

    Congrats on your new machine!

As Mr Gneiss stated, until you get a ball into the center hole to get the reels spinning, there typically isn't any sound.

Here is a link to a quick intro to pachinko: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ujcrbaazkwg

It is on a different machine, but the principle is the same; get the balls in the hole to start the reels spinning. If you line up 3 of the same reel, you go into a bonus round with a chance to win more balls. The "hopper" on the back holds balls which will be dispensed when you get a ball into the center hole or when you go into a fever round. There is the short of it. Hopefully that helps.

    Hi! Thanks for the reply!

yes, zero sound when playing. I hit the Vader rush and no sound.

I looked at this on youtube, the sounds and bells were why I purchased this.

Is there a manual or directions somewhere? Or a switch I have missed or hit by accident.

Welcome to Pachitalk. Have you checked the speakers themselves to make sure they are connected? Maybe someone disconnected them because of how loud the machine is? Generally you will not find a manual in English unless someone has done a translation.

Can I get a Japanese version? My son is stationed in Japan and may be able to get it translated

Unfortuntely, there aren't many (if any) manuals I can think of. Nothing that goes into mechanical or electronic, anyway. There is material on how to play each game but as these are meant to be used in parlors and not home there isn't much material available for consumers. I would check the speakers as Spyder said. Sometimes, the knobs themselves have issues. I have a machine that was extremely touchy and I couldn't get the volume to turn up until I messed with the knobs and put them back together. Check solder points on the cabinet as well.

There was a service manual floating round YJA earlier in the year. But haven't seen one for a few months now. To be honest. They don't have wiring diagrams in them any way.

Start with the basics. Check the speakers are acutally connected. On this model there is a pot with various different volume settings. Some have user adjustments with the joystick. Others lock that out. Look for a small rotational switch on the back near the top if I remember. Try changing the positions.

Hi, so I am told it is a sound module, a replacement is being sent. But I am having another problem, the display in this photo does not work, should it? And what is it for?

And, that button that drops the balls from the upper to lower tray does not work ( did yesterday). Any ideas?

That display only works if its connected to a Daverob credit dongle. Not the standard one.

The button is a mechanical device. Lever and spring normally. Can't see why it wouldn't work.

To top it off it is not shooting balls either... It's almost like something is stuck in it as it looks like it is trying to shoot a ball. Is there a way to access it to see if something is stuck? I opened the glass and see a ball clearing thingy.

Thanks again, I spent a great deal on this, and it seems to be one issue after another... But when it works it is cool!!

Open the front section by turning the door key to the left. Then there should be a lever on the right hand side to push to swing open the front tray assembly.
Sorry I don't own one and can't remember the exact postion ot layout of things.

Its probably some fluff got in there.

Can you hear it trying to shoot and nothing happening. Or is the shooter completely dead?

I had the same sound issue and it turned out the the potentiometers went bad. I bridged the wire across the 2 connections on the Pots (this bypass them for a brief moment. The machine became very loud. I went to my local radio shack and bought a 3w 25OHM reastat and it works fine. Bridge a small piece of wire across the 2 connections on the pot while someone gets a ball in the center. if there is very load sound thats your issue too.

Howdy Folks I got my Revenge of Darth Vader today !!

The Volume can be adjusted on the Front of the machine . The Lower " Jeweled " joystick lets you go from 1 to 4 on the volume . you just have to wait for Darth Vader to "Stroll " and the volume level will appear on the lower right .

I also seen that it prompts you to slide in a CR Smart Card ( Daverob's design )

    http://akimono.herokuapp.com/products/23

When you go into Fever or Vader Rush it starts counting points on the left pop-up screen .

Now I just have to install my Orange Ball lifter on this machine Cause that top ball tray in back is a little small .

If you adjust the volume pot on the back of the machine. You can lock out the joystick volume control.
