Default LED wiring first time, need help

    Hello,

I am going to be rewiring my Daiichi that I am restoring and would like to add a light to the center jackpot. The hole in the jackpot is small so wanted to use LED so I don't burn anything. The current wiring is a micro switch for the empty hopper light (it actually looks like a leaf switch in the little box so not sure if that is really a micro switch) and one bulb and a leaf switch and one bulb for the jackpots. I want to add the second bulb for the jackpots leaving one in current location and one in the center. The sockets I believe are corroded and bad. So as they are bad I am open to using a different type of bulb base type but I know nothing about them and nothing about wiring LED. I have read and been told you need to wire on one direction with LED but not sure how to tell the direction. Can anybody explain to me how to do the wiring for one switch one bulb and one switch 2 bulbs along with a fuse? Additionally please let me know what types of bulbs to get and anything else I would need for it?

    I appreciate any advice.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Here is a link for the wiring.

Bulbs would be a personal preference and depends on size and power your going to use. Then there is the brightness required. If you use a bulb type LED, it will have the current limiting resistor built in.
You will first need to see how much space you have for the center light and decide what power supply you will be using. Then match the LED bulb to the power and mounting.

Thanks for the reply. How do I know what bulbs would be brighter than others?

I try to use diffused, colored bulbs that match. If the existing plastic lens is red on your center attraction, I use a red LED.

The resistor size depends on the voltage used.

Most regular, through hole, LEDs are about the same brightness but there are super bright (usually white) available too. Measured in MCD.
Different diameters are available, round, square, rectangular. There are lots of choices.

Thanks Carl. I've started trying to see what is available and read about the resistors and getting my head wrapped around it. I'm away on vacation so can't measure the opening for the jackpot and kicking myself for not doing before I left as I wanted to order when away but will wait until I get back. Looking forward to playing it.
