Sanyo comet II wiring electrical -need help

Happy Father's Day to all the dads.

I need help with an issue with the electrical on my comet II. I finally decided to hook up the lights on it and having difficulty with the leaf switch for the jackpot. The light for the out of balls is working fine. I tried swapping the bulbs to see if it was a bulb issue and that is not it. I sanded the contacts slightly on the switch to see if was a dirty issue and still does not work. The socket looks ok and I do not see any wiring connection issues but possible there is a connect I'm not seeing. Is there another way to test the switch and if the switch is bad is there a way to replace it cheaply if at all? A few pics below.

Do you have a multimeter? If so, trace the wires from the switch back to the power and light connections. Measure the resistance (continuity) from there. Switch open infinite resistance, switch closed almost zero. If your resistance is infinite with the switch closed, check each wire from contact to where the wire terminates. The connections behind the switch sometimes break and need a resolder.

Thank you for the reply. I do have a multimeter but don't know much about using it and not sure I follow your directions. I'm just not an electrical person at all. :-(. Attached is a picture of the multimeter I have. I'm not sure what to set the knob on and what I am looking for on the top when testing.

Set it to the left ( green) for resistance. The lowest setting looks to be continuity ( speaker icon). Touch your leads together and you should get a beep.

Thanks again for the reply. I went to try but realized I did not have the batteries for it so was going to buy some at lunchtime. In the meantime I took out the switch and when doing so found the issue. The solder connections on both leaves had popped off. I resoldered them and now working fine, very happy. :-). I need to see if I can snake the wires back in behind the plastic as I don't want to disassemble the machine again. If I can't I will just run them over the back. Thanks again for the help!
