Default Howdy from Canada! Plus need help identifying Nishijin Pachinko

TL;DR I'm getting a pachinko machine in a will, and would like to learn more about it. Pictures below.

Hi everyone! My name is Buck and I'm so happy to become a member of this site. Ever since I was a kid I loved Pinball machines and I always wanted one. When I got older I discovered Pachinko machines and I really wanted one of those too. Well some dreams do come true I guess. My boss at work died. It has been a very sad experience for me. He was a great man. He left me this Pachinko machine that he had. As far as everyone knows right now it's not working. Based on how dirty it is I'm assuming it's just jammed up inside. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined and consider myself a hobbyist mechanic. I've fixed many very rare paintball markers as well as cars and trucks. He left this machine to me in a will because he believed I would be able to fix it. I really can't tell a lot about it other than it's a "classic Modern" Nishijin cabinet. I don't own the machine yet because the will is currently being settled. I have some pictures of it and I'm really looking forward to getting it home and trying to fix it. Everyone on this website is so friendly and cool!

Oh also. Some local appraiser said this machine is worth 250 in the current condition and over 1,000 restored. That seems really "optimistic" based on my own limited knowledge. Can anyone give me a more sober appraisal?

I can take more pictures if you guys need me to. Thanks in advance!

Would this be considered a Hanemono machine?

My estimate with a lot of balls is around a hundred dollars in working condition, there isn't a very big resale market.

Thanks. I didn't think it was worth a lot. I just really want it. I think the appraiser made the classic mistake of confusing rare and valuable

Does anyone know the name of this machine?

Edit: Yeah i'm not really worried about the value. I know they aren't worth a lot. It just has a lot of sentimental value to me because it used to belong to my boss. I'm really looking forward to cleaning it up and getting it going!

If you do a video search of the Japanese name above, it will give you an idea of the game play style.

It has a small bucket but it seems mostly empty. Some of the balls are a bit rusty. I'll try to clean them but I might end up having to buy more. Are the cheap balls on ebay reliable?

It's still in my office. I'll get better pictures of it once I'm allowed to take it home. I've been VERY EAGER to take this home and clean it out!

Thanks! I love how the Judo dude is animated! I hadn't seen one like this either (in my whole day of searching ) until Drunkenclam was nice enough to post the name of the machine for me! That will be a great reference for me to figure out which parts are supposed to move. I haven't powered it up yet.

Thanks a lot guys! Joining a new online community is always super intimidating but you all are great proof that there are still nice people on the internet! Hopefully the will comes back soon. They are selling my boss's old house so they took all of his stuff and it's all inside my building at work. I see the machine every day and it's such a tease because i'm not allowed to turn it on or take it home till the will comes back from probate court I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas looking at all the cool presents under the tree.

I'm at work again today so if anyone wants any "better" pictures I can try and take them. The lighting isn't the best.

Yes thanks for the help! I hope reaching out to you on google wasn't too creepy. This website has already been a very great tool for me! I was able to use your video on animal land in particular to learn a lot about my machine. The backs are very similar! I was able to find the front latches and the adjustment knob for the shooter as well as those metal things to adjust the machine payout. I didn't try to find the volume adjustment because the room the machine is in is still dark. I hope the will comes back soon so I can take the machine home and work on it in my own workspace.

Another question. I tried searching but couldn't find an answer. How many balls should I use to keep this machine happy. Is 500 good or should I get 1,000. I thought it had more balls but I think they got lost in the process of moving everything.

got a thousand at least, that way you can put about 500 in the back top hopper and use the rest for playing
