Community Mitigation Field Representative. Any questions???



If you are a FireFighter you may have heard of ISO. I work in a small division called Community Mitigation. I am one of about 40-50 people in the US that evaluates a community on it's ability to provide fire protection. Once I do my survey I then do the math to come up with a single number that is then assigned to that community and then insurance companies use that number to help determine insurance premiums for both Commercial and Residential properties.

Ask your insurance agent sometime what your ISO class is. It's on a scale of 1-10. 10 is no recognized fire protection and 1 is the best class we assign. There are only about 50 class 1's to give you an idea.

After wasting a little over a decade at the Baltimore Sun (newspaper) I installed home and commercial security systems, did some retail time at Best Buy, then sold Chevys. That's where I met my current boss, who hired me to run the office for his IT firm. I guess he figured it was cheaper to hire me than tyo keep buying cars and trucks from me (3 Camaros and 2 pick-ups in 2 years!). I also sell video games and pinball machines on the side (another hobby that got out of control!). I'm curently looking into importing a container of pachislos and IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! ALL OF YOU!

I have worked for the telephone co (IBT, Ameritech, SBC) for a little over 40 years. Did a 3 year hitch in the Army in between. I was stationed over in Germany, Friburg and Ida Oberstein. Have been retired now for 5 1/2 years. Try to do a little travling and pudzing around the house.
