Default Progress on my first cabinet

So I started my cabinet last night. It seems to be coming along better than I had hoped! Especially since the last time I touched a saw was high school shop class... Here are some pictures:

Next will be to add wood filler and fill in the imperfections and screws, sand, prime then paint! I'm going to do a custom paint job that will match the look of the machine. We'll see how that goes.

Sorry for the horizontal images. Not quite sure why they aren't appearing vertically.

    Thanks!

In the picture, the top piece of wood on the cabinet is hiding the reservoir for balls. There's a pretty decent 3"x 4"x20 1/2" "tank" in the top of the cabinet space. I'm going to punch a piece of PVC through the top of the cabinet to feed into the hopper.

you could cut a slot in the PCV pipe so you can slide something in to stop the balls from all falling out when you open the front

That is a great idea! I didn't think of that and I'm sure I would have found out pretty quickly how necessary that is. Thanks luckydog!

All right! Here are the final shots of my cabinet with the Eva 9 machine. I still have a couple things to do but this is the finished, painted cabinet. I'll be starting my second cabinet today and hopefully it will go much quicker. I definitely learned a few thing from building this initial one that I'll be carrying into my next build. Namely sanding, careful measuring and cutting, as well as being PATIENT. If anyone would like to hear anything specific, let me know. Thank you guys for your help!

Thanks guys! I built my second cabinet last night; took me 3 1/2 hours instead of 3 1/2 days like the first one. I took my time to carefully measure and double check everything. It turned out much better than the first. I'll post some pictures after I've hung both cabinets on my wall.

do your shot balls return to the front tray?

I made a couple of cabinets that did that, using an oil can funnel in back to direct the balls and a paint tray for balls to roll from the back to the front

That's an awesome idea! They do return to the front although it seems like your way is a much better way of doing it I'll have to try that on my next one.

I used a small conduit clamp to mount the funnel in back, you could put 2 small feet on the back of your plastic tray to assist balls rolling to the front.

Thanks! It's actually my place of work. The ceiling is all original tin from 1905. It really is an amazing piece of work!

back in those days they built houses to last 100's of years

the house I grew up in Chicago was built in the 1880's and still standing

now they use drywall and pressboard on most homes and they won't last anywhere near that long!!

No they won't! I know plenty of friends with homes built in the 90's early 00's and their homes are already falling apart.

They certainly don't make them with the level of craftsmanship they used to, that's for sure!
