Default Need help to identify - Been in family for 40 years

My parents purchased this machine around 1975 - 1976 time frame in Atlanta ( as you will see in attachements). Looking to get a little more information about this Pachinko.

Sticker in the back says it is a Nishijin M5.

It is in great working condition and has been played over the course of 40 years.

I have decided to start to clean it up a little, ie playfield, brass, chrome.

Attached are a few pictures, I would love to learn a little more info about it.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Welcome to pachitalk! You have a late '60s to early '70s Nishijin "model A". The model A is referred to as a recylcer, because the lost in aballs are recycled back into the lower winning ball hopper. This is a good thing for home use, because you don't have to have a catch bucket for lost balls, nor do you have to refill the top hopper as often.
Looks like the center tulip is not closed all the way...is there a ball stuck inside?

The picture was taken with it laying flat and that is why it looks odd. Everything is still working. Poking around the forums has been a big help. It looks like there is a Showa year marking of 48 with a 10 and 5 after it. From what I have read here it looks like a 1972 model?

Thanks for the reply and help.

    to Pachitalk!

What you have there is a 1971 Nishijin Model A Osaka Aoi Umi (Spinners). Now let me decode all that for you. 1971 is the build year. Model A is the rear mechanics style. Osaka was the factory it was built in (Others might say it was Kyoto but my research shows Osaka). Aoi Umi translates to blue sea which is why it has navy blue plastics on the front. And Spinners is the theme of the machine. Whew.

Looks like someone decided to redo the lights and in doing so eliminated the ball out switch and the fuse block. The ball out light is handy cause it lets you know when the machine is out of balls. Also you might want to stick a fuse back in as it is a good safety device so people don't try to hook 110v up to the lights.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    100 machines and counting...
