    Default Noobie Looking for advice

Hi all, my mother-in-law bought gave me a couple of machines for my birthday a few years ago. I've always found the task of cleaning and refurbishing them a bit daunting, but I finally got up the nerve recently. I started with cleaning the parts and polishing the best I can, but it's tough to get in between the nails and I find pulling them terrifying! Any recommendations about how to clean the graphic in the tighter spaces?

I haven't gotten in to the mechanics of my Sanyo, but on most of the Mizuho seems to work okay. It's missing the cover for the payout device, so I loose some balls every time it gets triggered. I figure I can rig something to keep them contained. My big problem is with the seesaw and the ramp attached to it. The seesaw seems to get stuck in the down position from time to time (though I just lubed it, so hopefully that helps) but I'm not sure that I understand how it's supposed to work. It seems like when it gets triggered and goes down, it pulled the white ramp it's attached to up. That causes the jackpot to just dump out the back of the machine, which doesn't seem right to me. I'd really love any help/advice! My son and I are really excited about getting these things up and running!

    Hello and welcome.
That is a couple nice machines, check a few of the stickies above in this section, particularly the model B. It will help you to understand the workings.
For your sticky parts, no lubrication, just clean and polish and things will work much better.

+1 with Tink. No lube. It tends to collect dirt and gum up. With the exception of the smallest amount of grease in the ball bearings on the shooter, just get everything clean and smooth.

Okay, thanks guys! Just to clarify, I lubed with a dry hobby lube that isn't supposed to collect dust. It dried really quick, just released the joints!

Do you have a preference for the front glass? I need to replace it on both machines, and I didn't know if glass or plexi is preferable...

The see saw reset is triggered mechanically by the weight of the pachinko balls pushing down the big lever.
Because some of your pachinko balls are falling out, it is wacky.
The Sanyo Comet II commonly has the same problem caused by something else. Som folks call it the sticky see saw issue.

On your Mizuho, I'd take a piece of plexiglass and hold it over the back. If possible, mark and pre-drill holes to line up with the existing screw holes. Then cut the plexi to fit. Use screws (in existing holes) and washers to hold in place.

Ditto on the Comet II. I have added fishing weights to the see saw on one to get the reset to work like a clock. Otherwise they are really hit/miss on the reset. These were not really counter weighted properly from the factory.
