Default What is the best way to clean this part?

I apologize if I already asked this because I thought I did but cannot locate my question. How do you recommend cleaning this part. I cannot remember what I've done in the past. With the ball bearings I don't know how to go about it without causing damage to them.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I use synthetic steel wool, it does not powder like regular steel wool. Just stay away from the bearings.

I use CRC INDUSTRIES 4.5-oz. Quick-Dry Electronics Cleaner Aerosol, you can get it at Walmart or any auto parts store.

for something like that where there's parts (bearings) that you cant get to but very likely need cleaning, just drop the whole thing in solvent. you can use kerosene or similar. scrub it with a brush and try to break up all the old grease in and around the bearings then add new grease.

Take completely apart, quickly soak in solvents, repack and replace rubber if applicable with like parts, or treat with a penetrating lubricant. One good thing about taking things apart completely, you learn a lot about what it is you are working on.

Simple green to remove surface dirt. let dry, then spray down with brake cleaner then add grease to the bearing.

    100 machines and counting...
