1. Balls not flowing from the outer chute down to the ball counter/payout mech (usually tapping on chute or banging on the top of the machine will dislodge), drain all the balls if that doesn't work and try again.

That sounds exactly like the problen. The stoppage is in fact the outer track, and right at the ball counter. Tapping it doesn't make balls flow, I had to use a pick to push them through. Access through the slots in bottom of track. Is not hard to push through, but there is some resistance. Once balls are filled back to thois point, still wouldn't shoot. Tapping the counter area caused a payout. Would flow balls for a minute...then jam again. This was during a "333" payout (a reach?) so a DaveRob dongle was not necessary to force payouts. When draining balls, still hangs up occasionally. Removing, cleaning and inspecting the whole top tray and feeder ramps did not reveal any clues. I expect a mechanical blockage somehow. I will focus on the ball counter area since that is where they stop. Plus it easily slides out by depressing a tab. I was trying to add a Gaku pachicounter at this location, and had the penguin ball counter in and out a number of times. Don't know if the problem was happening before that or not. <br>
I,m not at the other house to test the 2nd theory. I do have a DaveRob dongle, so I will give that a try. I had to switch back to a standard bypass dongle when I screwed it to the wall. When the DaveRob is installed it touches the wall and presses the circuit board in about 1/16". I'm going to look for a short cable to let it hang down, or Velcro it somewhere. I will use it for troubleshooting while the door is open. Thanks for the tip!<br>
