    Default What's the deal?

This topic is regarding Japanese vs American machines. I have both, I love both and I proudly display them side by side. What I'm curious about is why fans of American machines seem to have such a distaste for the Japanese ones. To me they're fundamentally the same. You put round metal discs in to play and you get round metal discs back if you win. The game play seems only slightly different, for example, playing through a win instead of it dumping it all at once doesn't seem like enough of a difference to account for it and hitting a radom big bonus is the same as hitting a random jackpot. So really, what's the deal? Maybe someone can clear this up for me..

My guess is they want to justify in their mind the higher values/prices of the American machines and see the Japanese ones as cheaper imitations of American slot machines. Sorta like how some pinball diehards look down at pachinko. I'm sure there's also quite a few that value the novelty of accepting/paying out real US currency!

I have american, Japanese, and British? I was trying to copy an image, but my computer crashed and I don,t know how to do it on a tablet. I couldn't care less about modern American machines with a motherboard and a random number generator! I know that Japanese machines have that as well...so if I had a choice...tell Japanese machines win! My American and Brittish machines are both mechanical...springs gears and levers. That makes me happy! The more electronics...the less I want it (with the exception of a Powerflash). I don't know how to copy and paste...so if you want to see the Brittish one, search "Brains beer". Match beer labels to win! I am not even sure it is Brittish...it uses pre decimal 6d (6 pence?) Coins...so I think it is. Always willing to be corrected.
I EXPECT it is Americans moaning about "US vs them". Who else is going to care?
Modern American machines are boring, antique mechanical slots are awesome wherever they come from!

Pachislos. less weight, take up less room, lower priced, reliable, easy to fix, most are more fun then vintage American slots

Currently I have 6 pachislos, 8 Bally amerislos (that's what I call the american slots) and 2 Mills mechanicals. Each one brings a little something different to the table and I enjoy them all equally. I guess that why I'm having difficulty understanding the bias some people have. Case in point, just today I was talking to a guy about a machine I have for sale but when he learned it was a pachislo he curled his lip in disapproval and said that he was only interested in "real" slot machines. This made no sense to me because as I stated earlier they're fundamentally the same in my opinion. Maybe it's a status quo thing or something , I guess that's important to some people..

well im going to be a bit different.... (but i usually am)

i can say that i don't understand why people "hate" (might be a strong word) pachislo, but i can answer why they don't "do it" for me.. i enjoy the game play.. I also enjoy the vids and screen action... but i don't care for the fact that when i hit the button the reals don't stop.. there is not skill in them. there not what there supposed to be.. i also get board playing them when they hit a bonus round.. they seam go on forever barfing out coins after coins.

now once again im a bit different.. i have early mills machine's i have early sega machine's i have electro bally's machine's and i have a tru skill stop machine.. i have had several pachislo machine and a few Modern slot machines.. and i have to agree with brother Pachiwall.. slots with chips just dont do it for me.. guess im just old school..

for me its the long bonus rounds and the skill stop buttons not stoping when i hit them.. would i buy one if the price is right?? absolutely!!!!

    My personal 2 cents

As I mentioned earlier...I prefer the mechanical machines, both pachinko and slots. Somehow you feel less like you can be cheated when it is gears and springs.

I have played my fair share of American slots in casinos (Las Vegas, New Orleans, Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun, among others). They are cool to play. However, I have never, at this point, seen an American slot machine that has the light shows, videos and sound effects that any of the pachislos have. If I found a decent American slot machine (Star Wars, Alien) at an affordable price, I would get them to add to my collection. I think a lot of people have a distain for pachislos because they don't work the same or pay out the same as American machines. Apples and oranges. But until I get a chance to try some antique slots or trade stimulators, my vote goes to pachislos.
I have not lost my mind. I have it backed up on disk somewhere...
