Default Sankyo - Star Wars - Battle of Darth Vader

After picking up my first machine here in the UK a few weeks ago I have been reading through the forums and trying to find something for sale here in the UK that was a little newer than the Pretty Band machine (which is actually awesome!).

I found myself trawling Yahoo Japan and came across a Star Wars Battle of Darth Vader for just 7000 Yen, which is under £40 here in the UK. I was very sceptical, but decided to give it a punt and placed the bid via fromjapan.co.jp Total shipped total was 48,850 yen and that included 1000 balls from another seller and priority delivery with FedEx. Although the total was a little above my "risk it" budget I was happy enough.

It arrived this morning! I was very nervous opening the box, I half expected it to be a box of bricks. But no, there it was in all it's glory! Double boxed, not very well internally packaged but it has survived without damage.

Unbelievable value! The machine is pretty amazing and worth every penny.

It has come without a key, but they seem cheap and easy to find (I think). The key from my Pretty Band works fine in it.

Just thought I'd share my experience. fromjapan.co.jp were pretty good I have to say. The only criticism would be the lack of paperwork on the outside of the box, caused a 2 day delay with customs here in the UK.

    Cheers

    Cris

PS - Sorry I can't figure out why the pictures are all upside down ???

I was thinking about bringing over one for resale before Christmas the one you got was probably the same one I was watching

oh I had 11 keys delivered yesterday you can have one for a fiver including p+p

yes I had a problem with FedEx overcharging me my vat duty. As they overpriced the shipping rate by £500 Instead of about £40 it was £120, had to claim the money back from HMRC, I got the cheque last week

Crazy! You lucky!!! 48,850yen to USD is only around $400... or $258gpb.

I have also been looking at this game, but my importer wants $1000usd for it... or... 120,617.50yen

I'm enjoying the game so far, hit a fever and it went mental. Loads of original clips from the films and the original sound track too. The 3D sequences are crazy good, very clever how they get that working without the need for glasses.

Have to admit I can't understand why it was only 7000 + 2500 Yen local delivery. I was fully expecting it to be some kind of scam. But no, an honest seller !!!

For a machine that has been lifted straight out of a parlour and boxed up it's in great shape, only one small bit of plastic is cracked (it's on the outside trim of the frame) But I can't spot anything else wrong at the moment. I think I need a better PSU as mine is getting warm.

I might try and find a local Japanese speaker to come round and tell me what all the stuff on the screen means. The machine is clearly trying to get me to do certain things, not all are that clear.

I would certainly take a risk and import direct again. Not that I am going to get away with another one for a while now !!!

    Cheers

That is true, but what you get is warranty and peace of mind. If you can afford to throw away $500 on something that might not work because of some bit of small print Japanese you couldn't read. Or a machine that's come from the smokiest parlour in Tokyo and it arrives covered in a thick green film and is sticky to touch.
Yes you can get some great deals but it can be a gamble as well.

Coming fron the the guy who brought a Star Wars Advent Vader for ¥1000, Nao Oikawa for ¥1100 and Journey to hot spring ¥560

Shooter was broken on hot springs, front tray cracked on Star Wars (took me ages to strip, fix it and find the right paint match.
Oh and nothing wrong with Nao Oikawa

If you look at the name on the cel or on the back, it's the letters at the end.

It appears to have the letter "R" on the end of the model number at the back. I assume this ties it to the specs listed on this page...

    http://www.sankyo-fever.co.jp/special/pxf/spec02.html

I don't read any Japanese, but looking at the 4 different models I would say the red portion of the pie chart related to how much of the game play is spent in "Vader Rush" mode. Almost all the game play on this machine so far has been in this mode, very annoying as it's very repetitive and the music is not great. At least the last hour has been spent in this mode. I've hit 3 fevers during this time, but again it's a little repetitive. I'd love to know how to reset the machine and start the game play again, when I power back on it just picks up in Vader Rush mode again.

you can try to reset the cel, there should be a button on there, try holding it during power up.

There is a pink button next to the power button on the machine. Holding this in at power up seems to reset the machine so game play is back to normal.

Out of interest, can you list the package size and weight, I just had my charge 2 come through for a different machine and it weights in at a hefty 41.92 Kg 90 x 68 x 56 cm. That's more than a pachislo, it also doesn't have any balls or transformer with it either. So machine only

I don't seem to be able to see that information on the website anymore. It's not on my receipt and I can't find it on their emails either.

I think my package was around 46kg, but that included 1000 balls (no transformer). The dimensions you list seem about right to me.

Around the 38-40kg mark seems about right for this Star Wars machine, I struggle to lift it on my own!

    Cheers
