Default Recent CL purchase turned out to be a massive disappointment.

Picked up a vintage Ginza machine this past weekend.

The seller had three machines listed so I went out to his place on Sunday with a friend.

Once was a Nishijin, one was a Sankyo, and the last was a Ginza.

I looked them all over and tried to decide which one I wanted (okay, I wanted all three, but I've still got my last nishijin waiting for me to get un-lazy and build a cabinet for it).

I didn't want another nishijin. I've done three of them now and wanted to branch out a bit. The Sankyo was pretty cool, but I didn't really care for the center feature. Then I started to really dig on the Ginza. The play field looked decent, all the plastics are dirty but show promise and the wood was actually in decent shape.

So I make a deal. I take the Ginza and my friend took the other two.

I finally got around to poking at it tonight. Took a paper towel to it and the plastics are bright and like new. Same goes for the play field (maybe not "like-new" but no appreciable water damage and the colors look really great). Pulled the rear covers to check everything. Everything looks pretty good. It had two ball-jams. One was just under the pay-out reservoir and was due to a corroded old .22 cartridge. The other was the front feed chute which was just a wayward dime.

After that, I noticed the little plastic arm that controls the ball feed to the shooter was on the wrong side of the shooter arm... and that was it.

It works fine. There's nothing to fix on it!!

Here I was, thinking this guy was honest enough to sell me what I assumed was a rusted hunk of junk that would provide me hours of joy in stripping down and tinkering. Nope. Damn thing works like a top. It even has every piece of rear plastic (including the little ball-chute cover)!

I swear... what is the world coming to?

My only consolation is that I still get to (hopefully) fix the two that my friend bought.
