Default Vintage Machine needs repair near Denver

    Hello,

As youngster in the 80's, a family friend had a somewhat functional machine that I would play with all the time. When they moved, they were kind enough to give it to me. Years later, when I was in college, my stepfather tried to surprise me by doing an amateur restoration. Now it looks nicer, but has lost some functionality. He also ordered some balls that don't seem to work as well. Basically, it was a kind gesture, but it was botched attempt. Now, 15 years later, I want to get it repaired right. I don't think it will take much effort, but I want a proper restoration. The closest place I can find is in Tulsa. Can someone direct me to somewhere closer to the Denver Area? Thanks!

    to Pachitalk.

Member Jeff ( JACKSJE4 ) lives in the denver area and last I recall did repairs on machines. Might want to send him a PM (or he most likely will chime in here shortly).

    100 machines and counting...

You can always (usually) fix it yourself! First you have to clear out all the jammed balls. Next...determine if the balls are correct. Can you accurately measure a ball? Pachinko balls are 11mm in diameter. Since I have no calipers or micrometer that measures in mm, here is my measurement in inches... .432". OK, I measured wrong. http://www.onlineconversion.com/length_common.htm . Anyhow...before you,or anyone, can reliably fix it...you will need the correct balls. Real pachinko balls are engraved with Japanese writing...but not always. If you can,t measure one, or have locally done, you can send me one and I can measure it for you.
After cleared, you will have a better understanding of SOME of what is going on. This will give you the confidrnce to go further! We can, and will, help you figure this out!

From the picture I can tell you definitely have a ball jam going on after the seesaw. Will probably run a lot better once cleared and the seesaw reset to the up position. Also, love the Mizuho machines, great colors on them.
