Default Nishijin Model A - Ball Release

    Hi All,

I recently purchased my first Nishijin Model A. Although it has seen better days, there just might be a potential good machine at the bottom of the basketcase. This, of course, was a Craigslist find, so I picked it up at a good price (for some reason, there aren't many Pachinko machines readily available on this side of the US).

Well, off to my question. I was wondering if anyone had any closeup pictures of the ball release (dump) area that is right up above the "Open/Shut" sticker on the back of the machine. My machine has the double hole configuration on the front of the machine, but I suspect that there may be something missing (linkage possibly) to actually release all of the balls on the back.

Any good detailed pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thx!

Definitely missing the connection wire to the dump. I had to make one on a couple machines.

If another member does not have a good pic for you, I will try and get one for you later.

Thank you! The pic and info will help greatly. I checked mine closely last night; the finger loop is missing and the linkage is broken, so it looks like I will have to fab up a new one.

As you probably already know...the linkage in question is not necessary. It makes it easier to manipulate the ball dump when needed from the rear. It also allows for dumping with a paperclip, or suitable wire thru the pinholes from the front...one hole to dump, one hole to reset it. Can provide better pics if needed!

Thank you for the info. I did notice that I was able to manually trip the lever once I knew where its connection point was on the back of the machine. Does the pivot release (on the front frame) have any springs or detents associated with it? I would like to assume that the linkage and spring loaded dump lever on the track control the pivot release, but am not sure. If you have more pics, it would be great to see them.

No spring that I am aware of...I think the rest of the mechanism provides that. I'll try topost some pics tonight after work!

I need to bump this thread now since I'm working on a model A and I'm unsure if my lever will work correctly. The ball release lever itself: Is it supposed to have a spring inside of it to hold it in a certain position? Maybe 2 springs?bdl.jpg

Thanks guys! Almost done with this thing!

No springs inside the rocker mechanism, the lower part that blocks or allows the ball to flow has the only spring.

Only spring in that system is on the front of the black chute in the picture you uploaded. That is the only thing to keep the fingers in the up or down position.
