Default Ball lifter or ball emptier

Can someone explain the function of this often missing component I see on model B machines? I have never seen a complete one and I don't plan to buy this one listed on CL just curious as to how it works.

Those were used in parlors on Model A machines. They are counters to count the number of winning balls from each machine. This way the parlor can see if a machine was paying off too often and then adjust it so it didn't. It seems though that a majority of imported machines don't have them. I have only seen one other with the counter in place. So they are a quite rare item. (Though doesn't add value really. But it is cool.)

But if anyone wondered why there is that tray and hole in the frame on model A machines. That is why.

Exactly what Max said. I have only seen that counter twice. First, in a youtube video about 1960's japan and pachinko, the second on the machine in question on ebay. Very rare, and super nifty.

At 1:50 you can see the counter in action. http://youtu.be/hZ0psgHs2B8

Also, there is a scene where the machines are cleaned, more sensitive pachi members will probably want to shield your eyes.
