Interesting article. I actually got a sample of metal filament for my printer. This stuff looks really fun to play with. It isn't like your typical metal infused material which is like 60% plastic and 40% metal. This stuff is 80% metal and 20% plastic. The company also says you can bake it in a kiln and then you will be left with a solid metal part. Now I just gotta think of something cool to make with it. Oh and find a kiln.....

    100 machines and counting...

Hey Max, if your talking the virtual foundry stuff we tried some from the get go of the company and it was very brittle. They sent us replacements a few months ago and it was slightly better. The new stuff is suppose to be great, but we havent gotten "the new new replacement" yet. As far as the kiln we have the shop put it in the heat treat machine so if you have a "walk in" or "job shop" machine shop around or a pottery/arts/crafts place they may be able to do the kilning for you.

Yep that is the stuff. I got a sample of the bronze material about a month ago.

The bronze is 1530F at the highest temp, the copper is 1800F at the highest temp and you have to hold there for what seems like forever!

This works with plain ole bronzefill PLA (still plastics in it) just have to tumble/smooth over all the ridges so it goes through the mechanisms cleanly. Some of my pachislo are more picky than others

I have a working design for a sankyo that I need to reprint and test fit again, but not a New Gin. It may fit (I'm assuming you mean the rear hopper?) send me a PM with good pictures if you'd like. I'll take a look.

What is a ball catch? Is it on the front or the back of the machine?

I think a plastic tack puller would break immediately.

Is the play tray, the top tray on the front of the machine?

There are some strong plastics out there (polycarbonate and the such) but not something I would go for unless in a pinch or prototyping before I cut one out of steel Some things just arnt a good fit for 3DP.

You could use a donor machine.

The top front tray is a lot of parts and a metal door. I'm guessing you only need one plastic piece?

The bottom front tray has a metal ash tray and other integral metal parts and studs.
