Babel - Light On 3rd Reel Seems Out

Hey folks,

I just received a Babel today, and, while I have no clue what is happening with the 4th reel and how it is played, it does seem to be working properly except that the 3rd reel does not seem to light up like the first two reels. I opened the door and cannot see any bulbs inside the reels. I never removed any reels before and was not inclined to do so without doing some research on this forum first. I did a search on reel lights and bulbs, and now I am not sure if the machine even has bulbs or LEDs inside the reels. Does anyone have any advice before I start to take the reels out?

im not familar with this model but the same thing happened with my tatsujin check the circuit board on top of the reel cage and make sure all the female connectors have male connectors in them.

You don't have to remove the reel. I had the same problem when I got my Babel. There is a small black panel just on the edge of the right reel, remove this and the strip that holds the bulbs is behind the reel, this is also removable (you may need to unplug it from the top to get at the bulbs). I cann't remember which size bulb is there so have a few diff sizes avail before you start. If I remember correctly it takes some nimble fingers the get the strip out and back in.

Hey folks,

I did what Moonlighter said and found three bulbs in a plastic mount like he described. One of the three bulbs was obviously out, so I took the screw out of the plastic mount with the idea of removing the plastic mount and replacing the bulb.

Bet me! I have no clue how those folks put custom reel strips in there, because I could not figure out how to get the light strip out of the third reel. I finally stuck my fingers in the reel and managed to remove the bulb. Putting the replacement bulb back in and turning it to it seated position was a real fun thing with my big fat fingers.

I did get my reel light working again, but I am wondering what would I have done if it had been a light in the middle or left reel? There has to be some reasonable way of removing the entire reel cage to work on it in a reasonable manner. Can anyone tell me the secret?

on most of them you remove all screws on reel assembly and unplug each reel,

i had to replace a burned out middle reel bulb.

i did the above and moved 1st reel over and slid 2nd reel out.

15 min. job at the most.
