If you have tested the reels in different positions and the problem follows the reel in question, then you know there is a problem with the motor/sensor. I don't think you have much to lose by disassembling it and see what you can find.
Wayne, I moved reel 1 (bad reel) to the number 2 spot and it still happens. Its definitely the step motor. I will disassemble it, but first I'm going to let them all spin for 10 minutes or so. The other issue is that it's still not saving the difficulty setting. I tried resetting the machine 10 times and it still doesn't save. I'm going to leave the machine on over night and see if the capacitor charges and try a reset in the morning. It could be because the machine sat for over 2 years without being plugged in. I've heard that caps will go bad by not having power to them for a long period of time. Good news, all lights are working and it's keeping track of credits. I still don't know what these buttons are for? Any ideas??

Update. We have a winner!! It's the step motor, well, it's the sensor within the step motor. Here is a picture of the sensor and motor. The third picture on the right is a picture of the sensor, on the top of the motor the little orange bulb or led or whatever it is!? These are lit when the reels are spinning. Unfortunately this one is out in this step motor. So now here's the BIG question, where can I find a new or used step motor for this machine?

Now that's not what I wanted to hear! Well, I'll start searching. With your help, I found out what the issue was. It's a shame that it had to be a bad step motor because the machine could have been pretty nice with some cleaning up. Thanks for all your help Wayne.

I'm a bit new to this myself and someone please correct me if I'm wrong but possibly the stop board is malfunctioning?

If it's the reel motor for sure there is one that looks just like it listed on ebay (item#121684631908) for 10 bucks. It's not from your exact machine but it is a universal, maybe it has the parts needed to fix the one you're having trouble with. Oh, and there's only 1 day left on that auction..

Can you not take the motor apart and solder a new emitter in place, rather than search for a complete motor?

I can take apart the motor. Where would I purchase an emitter?

It's not the stop board as I switched the motor from spot one to two and it followed the issue. All the stop buttons work. Now that I found out what the name of the light is "emitter" that's what the issue is. It's not lighting up like the others.

its probably just an led, any good electronic shop should stock them. but finding the right one is harder, I'm surprised you can see it and its not infrared

Yes, I can see them light up when you press the spin button. I tried taking the motor apart but couldn't see anything that was out of place and I'm sure the emitter/led will be next to impossible to find. Its soldered to a board and looks like it's glued in. If I try to remove it, it will break. I'll start to search and hopefully find a dead machine or the motor.

The motors that mr-monoxide posted look as if they might work. http://www.ebay.com/itm/121684631908?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_ from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D121684631908%26_rdc%3D1

They are from a "Flipper" machine made in 1994 and is the same cabinet design. For $10, on a free machine, it's worth a shot.

I'm going to buy them. For $10 it's worth the chance. Thank you and I'll keep you posted.

I will for sure..! I'm not going to give up on it. I emailed the seller on eBay and ask if they could measure the mounting plate, height and send me a picture of the connectors on the motor. Like you had said, They do look like the same ones I have, so I'm hoping for the best. I started to clean up the door bezel and so far the chrome looks like new,....really good!! I took a bunch of pictures of it before I started cleaning it. After it's complete, i'll post up before and after pics.

I do have a question, what is the best way to clean the token payout tray. It's not chrome. It's looks like unfinished pot aluminum with an insert of stainless. Very dull looking. See picture. Thanks again Wayne-Ooo for all your help to a newbie..!
Also thank you to everyone who responded to this thread.

Wayne-Ooo, I think those motors on eBay are the same. Like you mentioned, both the flipper and Cranky Condor has the same cabinet and design. The only differance is the graphics!!

I've used #0000 very fine steel wool to shine the metal. Then used a metal polish. It was like a mirror, "all said and done".

Oh got it! These are used after you drop in a bunch of tokens to build up your token count/credits. Man I am a newbie...lol. Thanks again Wayne! Man you should see how nice the Chrome came out. I'll work on that tray next with the steel wool. Thanks for the tip.

From the look of your coin acceptor you probably need the .984 or "quarter size" tokens. The only other size pachislo tokens I've seen are the 30mm or "1/2 dollar" size.
