Default E8 error on 3 machines at the same time!

So maybe I am just still new to this..
But can someone explain how 3 machines all next to each other all get an E8 error on startup at the same time?

I have 3 machines.. 2 Eva, and SDF Macross Pachislos.. all connected to a UPS, I turn on the ups and it powers them all up..
I needed to do a hard reset on all the machines and now they work?

Admittedly they have not been turned on in a few weeks.. so a power issue?

I did a quick search and found a few instances of E8 error codes with pachislos

seem it does relate to being powered off for a while and losing it's memory (capacitor losing it's charge), hence needing a reset

    I recommend more pachi playing

Yes, it is related to not being played enough! I have a Diado Labyrinth that throws that E-8 if I don't play it at least once a week. I had numerous hours of reaserch and help from members of pachislodb assisting me with that error. How I solved it without playing it is to turn on the machine's power source (I use a DPST power switch on the AC in to the machine) and turn it off on the power supply for a day. That way current is coming in to the power supply and charging the caps. After leaving it like that for a day, I turn it on using the power supply switch, and return to using the main power switch.

the only problem with that is your transformer is still getting power.

if it overheats it could start a fire.

I always leave mine shut off with a power strip, its not a big problem doing a odds reset if they need one

    Ok,
    So it just happened again..

So now I get to thinking... cause that's what IT people do.. well at least sometimes.. lol
These are essentially computers... and a capacitor would not be used to keep a charge on volatile memory.. but a button cell battery like a CMOS battery would.
I see Button cell batteries on all 3 of these.. and average life span is about 4-5 years for a CMOS battery.
So can I swap these batteries.. I would assume yes... if they were like suicide batteries found on old Arcade boards then the data would have already been lost.. and I would have a dead pachi...

Anyone wanna place a wager if this works?
