I am assuming listing as junk means it doesn't work?

Actually no, more it means untested, either because if no transformer, balls, cr adaptor., or the seller doesn't know how to test it as might not be in the business and just handles house clearances etc. I got a machine listed as junk for ¥500 once, there was nothing wrong with it.

I think junk more means no warranty, used, not perfect new.
