I think the next step while waiting on my new opti sensors to arrive is to correct my tilt problem.

Upon powering up the machine is in tilt mode and a relay on my circuit board is clicking.

I really want to bypass the tilt feature completely to eliminate it as a potential problem.

As near as I can tell there are two ways tilt is activated. One is with the pendulum, which I have removed completely. The second is a leaf switch that open if the machine in opened up. I put a clip on this switch to keep it from opening.

My machine is still in tilt mode, the relay is clicking which is attempting to activate the tilt solenoid.

Any suggestions how to completely bypass the tilt system?

Perhaps I can help a bit, both my machines light the tilt lamp on power up, triggering the coin mech shuts of the tilt lamp to start a game. The tilt leaf switch shoulb be open, a closure lights the tilt, I just bent mine open so contact can not easily be made. Have you checked that crazy ground wire that runs everywhere? Seems these may have a floating ground like the newer models as mine stopped tilting after I retightened the ground under the finger rest post, perhaps we make the ground.

I opened the leaf switch. I used my multimeter and tested the ground wire all over the machine. It appears the ground in the machine is good. Out of curiosity, I tested the ground in the machine to the ground in my circuit panel which is right next to the machine and they do not appear to be connected. I am no electrician by any stretch of the imagination but it makes me wonder if the outlets in my game room are grounded properly.

Not sure what to do next as the relay is still clicking trying to engage the tilt solenoid and the tilt light is still on. When I attempt to trip the coin reader I get a brief buzz sound and it does not reset the machine.

Check your board where you connected the loose wire, should be same as pin in your pic. 6th connection up from bottom on board, it is the opti sensor output connection.

What should I check for? I apologize for my lack of electronics knowledge.

Check that it is connected to the 6th connection on the connector harness. Try also disconnect the optical switch to see if relay releases.

here is your previous pic, this should be correct. Much easier when I'm not on my phone to modify and attach pics

I currently have the opti sensor disconnected. Could this be a problem?

You mentioned previously that it operated correctly before the loose wire? I don't think the opti sensor missing would cause the tilt circuit to hold. Sounds more like a board problem.

Does the reset switch do anything?

Reset does not seem to do anything. I just received the opti sensors I ordered. I am hoping to have some time on Thursday to work on the machine some more.
