    Default Computer Pachinko Help

I have decided it is time to sort out my Computer Pachinko. My knowledge of electronics is limited at best so I am hoping for some help.

First I will start with some pictures of my machine for reference:

Computer Pachinko front.jpgBack of Playfield with Circuit Board installed.jpgBack Minus Circuit Board.jpgWire on Computer Pachinko (1).jpgCircuit board with disconnected wire.jpg

    The machine has 4 solenoids.

One is for payout and is attached to a see saw that allows it dispense 4 - 7 balls at a time.

Another opens the tulips on the playfield.

Another appears to lock out a see saw for a winning ball. My guess is this keeps the game from allowing you to score if the "TILT" is tripped on the machine.

The fourth simply vibrates the hopper to keep balls from jamming. (This one works but was disconnected when I received the machine and I have chosen to keep it that way as it really did not seem needed and was annoying.

I have tested all of the solenoids and they work perfectly when 12V are applied. How ever when the game is running, they are only receiving around 4.5V.

There is a photo with the circuit board removed and opened. I have a wire that has come disconnected and cannot figure out where it is supposed to connect.

I am hoping a member out there has a similar machine, working or not, with the same circuit board and they can advise me as to where this wire is supposed to connect.

With some advice I have tried a couple of things:

    Possible connections.jpg

This picture shows the a close up of the wire and two places that seem like they might be where it was supposed to be connected.

When connected to the pin, I get about 7V to the payout solenoid. I have schematics that I believe show it should receive 12V.

When connected to the other place, I get about 4V to the same solenoid.

    Board Labeled with 2 posibilities & clicking.jpg

This picture is another view with labels. I have also marked a component on the circuit board that with either connection will sometime go into a state of constant clicking and is sending about .5V to the solenoid that I believe locks out winning balls.

I would really appreciate any advice or help with this. Just let me know of any tests I should do or any other pictures I can provide.

    Mopar,

If you could take some pictures of your boards it might help.

This is just the first stages of my project. Phase two will be replacing the circuit board all together with a programmable board. I elieve this will make everything much more reliable and allow for gameplay modification in the future.

Thank you. Definitely a little different from mine. They actually seem to match the schematics I have better though. Tomorrow night I will look at them closer and compare them to my board to see if they can help with my issue.

This really is phase 1. I hope to get this machine working properly and then focus on replacing the circuit board with a programmable one.

Probably ask CarlW and you guys can figure out how to replace the whole unit with an arduino. His counter setup is really nice and basically functions the same way that does.

    100 machines and counting...

Carl has been a huge help. That is the plan to replace the entire circuit board with an arduino. I hoping to figure this out to a point that I can help anyone with a computer pachinko a plug and play fix / upgrade to their machines.

I'm working on a shopping list and I don't know if the two capacitors indicated are correct. Could you post the values of those two?

Mine is the same board as Mopar, both caps appear to be tantilum, labeled 6.8 (M) 16 volt

I made the connection for the loose wire as indicated in the marked photo.
    Loose wire suggested solution.jpg
This produced postive results. When I insert a coin, the machine opens the tulips and dispenses 3 sets of balls. It appears to play well but is not keeping score or dispensing a set of balls when a winning ball makes it through. This makes me think that my next issue may be the opti sensor.

I am also seeing the machine trip it's "tilt" sensor on occasion. I am hoping to find a way to temporarily bypass the tilt feature all together while fixing the machine.

Before the issue with the loose wire, the machine kept score well.

    Capacitors.jpg

I have looked at the capacitors closely and this is the information I could make out.

    Large capacitor:
Has the following written on it as best as I could make it out:
    "Sprague"
    "30D"
    "TE 1401"
    "2-100DC"
    "USA 7217"

The Smaller Capacitor has the following on it"
    "Taiwan"
    "Arcolytic"
    "25V 4.7"
    "RME-A-J 005"

Doing some searching online gave me this result on the smaller one:

    "Minitiature Aluminum Radial Lead Capacitor -5uF 50V -0 + 100%"

    I hope this helps.

remove the pendulum or wrap it in tape.. all it is, is a dead short.. when the pendulum makes contact with the ring it shorts out.. wrap it in tape or remove it all together..

I removed the pendulum. I believe there is also a leaf switch that triggers the tilt if the front is opened. When I get some more time, I am going to make sure I have it bypassed and then work on the opti sensor.

Check your grounding wire connections, mine tilted erratically as well till I added a ground wire between back and front so the hinge was not the connection and tightened all other ground screws.

Just ordered two new opti sensors. Hopefully I will have good results from them. Will run another ground wire Sunday to see if that helps with the tilt issue.
