Default My Nishijin "No More War 3"

Here are some shots of my Nisijin "No More War 3"; I believe it is a Model B. My father picked it up for me at a garage sale a few years ago for $30 with the balls. It took quite a bit of cleaning and fabricating some of the wire parts to get it working again, although it mostly works perfect now except occasionally the tulips stick.

Please pardon the sideways pics; they are upright on my machine, no idea why they are sideways when uploaded:

Question for the restorers: The art on the aircraft around the jackpot has lost most of its ink/paint; would you suggest attempting to re-ink/re-paint these, or leave them as they are? If the answer is "re-paint", is there a preferred type of paint for this (model enamels/acrylics/some sort of ink)?

    Thanks!

    -Chris

    to Pachitalk!

What you have there is a late 1976 Nishijin Model B (No more war III)

Now about the center feature. I would try to repaint it. Many people get good success out of using enamel model car paints. What I would do (though still haven't tried yet) is take the paint and thin it out, then put it in a syringe and just let it fill the area.

    100 machines and counting...

i used testor's enamel paints when i used to do restorations. i thinned them only enough to get the paint to flow into the small spaces. the glass paints that cardwii uses are nice but they're too glossy for my taste and i don't think the original paint was that shiny. it's too much of a difference in the patina of an original machine and would look out of place. having said that, it's a small point and i definitely have a couple of machines where i did this exact approach.
a syringe would be problematic i think for a few reasons. one is the paint comes out in a drop which for many of these small spaces, is going to be too much which means overflow and at the least cleanup. it sucks to get paint on another freshly painted area an can easily ruin the finished work. also, the force required to get the syringe plunger moving is less that to keep it moving. what this means is it's easy to apply too much pressure when trying to get some paint out. lastly a syringe tip is not the best tool to use to spread the paint around, especially the tiny spaces so you'd need something else for that.
a couple or a set of fine tip paint brushes solve all of the above problems and after all, that's what they're made for and are useful to have in general.
