Angry Oh Hanabi shows CJ code and gets stuck in reset

Hi everyone. I just bought a Oh Hanabi Aruze slot machine at a swap meet today and need some help. I'm brand new to this forum after doing some google searches for help.

Here's my issue. When I first plugged the machine in the lights came on but did nothing else. After learning about the hard reset, I tried that but it appears to stay stuck in that mode. I turn if off, turn the key to reset mode, turn it back on, press the button until a number 1-6 shows up, press the knob down, then turn the key back to vertical and nothing happens. The number that I chose (6) just continues to show up.

I took out of the motherboard and that's when things got interesting. When I put the motherboard back it and turned everything back on music starting playing and the rest of the lights came on. And now it has the error code CJ displayed. There are no coins stuck. I cleaned all the contacts, and the same thing. If I try to reset again it gets stuck in reset mode as described above and the only way to get it to play music and display the error code is to unplug and plug back in the power to the motherboard (which i assume clears out any charge left in the capacitors).

Only 1 coin came with the machine, so I'm not even sure i've got the right coins. But regardless I can't get it to reset properly.

Any ideas? If I need parts, where can I find them? From pics i've found online it's likely a 1999 or 2000 model? Again from searches, it looks to be a Aruze Oh Hanabi Fireworks model.

    Thank you,

    Brian

hard to say for sure but im guessing your problem is lack of tokens...

im more of a vintage pachinko guy but having one token sounds like a problem..

    good luck and of course

you need tokens in the hopper or it will always error out, that is the problem, you can get 500 or 1,000 on ebay, with 500 you will barely get by.

200 in hopper for payouts and 300 to play with would work with a lot of door opening and tokens swapping during playing

CJ is Coin Jam, not necessarily a jam but an error in the token mech.

Thanks for the advice. Stupid question, how does the machine "know" if the hopper is full? I didn't see any kind of sensor that would indicate if the hopper is full or not.

Adding coins did not solve the problem. I still get a CJ error message and cannot get it to hard reset.
