Gamera LCD Screen Help

Hello all. I'm new to this site and these machines. I bought a Gamera the invincible Pachislo machine at a flea market because m 5 year old is huge Gamera and Godzilla fan. Once I got home I didn't notice that the LCD screen was missing. I wanted to know if an on knows where I can buy a screen or if one from a different machine will work. Thank you all in advance. Welcome to Pachitalk! Sorry, but I'm not strong on electronics. My strength is purely mechanical...so I can help you with many vintage pachinko questions. But I am sadly out of my league here! Although they have NO LCD screens...here is a good place to keep an eye on! http://www.pachiparts.com/

You are also missing the board that sits behind the screen. I am also missing the screen but have the board in my Kaze no youjinbou (Whirlwind R) which is the same style machine as yours. I took some pictures, but need to post them (soon) which should give you an idea of what you are missing.

I did find a pic in another gamera thread and found a board on ebay but it was to a different game. Rad racer I believe that's what it was too. Thanks everyone for the inputs

So, if it is common that this LCD display is missing (I don't know if it is common or not), then my next question would be..."what are they putting the LCD's into?". I do not even know how to research that...but the answer to that question would send you off looking for 'one of those" to buy for the LCD!

I am buying for the first time myself. I haven't gotten the total yet. I am using shoppingmalljapan as my proxy. Their sight spells out the process pretty well. Others here have suggested other services.

Well, once you get it in and you decide not to use the sound board, would you sell it? It looks like my connections match up with that sound board. I wonder if it will play My Gamera sounds or sounds of the game it came off of.

My guess is that the board also controls the video. I'm pretty sure the sounds will be for salaryman kintaro. The board in my machine has three labelled chips which 1 for sure is socketed. Someone who knows more about these Rodeo boards hopefully will chime in. I'm thinking of trying the board out as it comes to see if it will play as a different machine. Of course, I will have to see if the reel symbols corrolate.

the main board on the back should handle the reel spins and proper payouts. I'm not sure if it would handle the correct video too??

Grinwing. Let me know if the sound board behind the LCD plays your game or the salaryman game sounds and video. That will let me know if I need to find a specific LCD and board or one with the same plugs will work. Thanks

Will do. It will be weeks before I get the board and screen, but will keep you in the loop. It's a learning experience for us both.

Looking at the resource page, it looks like you LCD is smaller than the rest of the similar machines including the gamera blue version. You will want to verify that when you look for a replacement.

lazylinko, I have verified that the video/sound board is in fact directly linked to the game it came from. If you get a chance can you measure the opening for the screen on the outside of the door? I would like to compare it to the opening on my machine. Also, can you grab the two dimensions of the plastic holder for the board and LCD? This info can be helpful for someone else down the road and possibly even help us find you what you need.

So then I need to find one that came from a Gamera Machine. Once I get home I'll measure the opening and plastic housing. It will be around 5 pm central time. Thanks for all the info.

Here are the quick dimensions that I took from my machine.

From the outside, the dimensions of the window for the LCD are: 6-3/16 x 3-9/16 with a diagonal of 7-1/8

The plastic housing dimensions for the board section are: 7-1/8 x 4-1/2

And the plastic housing dimensions for the LCD screen (also work for the LCD as it is a tight fit) are: 7-9/16 x 5-1/16

Hope these help. I am interested to see how these compare to those on your machine.
