    Post My new Arrangeball...Help.

So I picked this up the other day. It's missing the front cover and a piece is broken off the ball tray in the front, but those are both minor things IMO and I'd like to know what I need to do to get this thing up and running. I know a LITTLE about these machines, mainly from what I've read here. I know you needed tokens to play them, but of course I have none. Assuming I get it working, what would I use in their place? I took a few pics of the inside, which is completely foreign to me (no pun intended) as I'm used to working on regular vintage Pachinko machines which are purely mechanical. From a cursory inspection, all the wires and connections appear to be complete, nothing inside appears to be broken or dismantled. I am strongly tempted to just plug it in and see what happens, but I've been advised against that, so what should I do first?

there are tokens for arrangeball machines.. but Lt Teddy has all his machines working on Pachislo tokens.. there a little on the small size and a little lite (IMHO)

check your wires .. if every thing looks good then i say give her a plug in.. keep your hand on the plug just in case, but there comes a time when ya just have to plug it in

Yup. Looks ok from 500 miles away.

The coin slot on mine says "COINPUT" so I use coins. Real USA Dollars. They fit perfectly. A little more expensive than tokens but they don't go bad or get stale or anything like that.

The game came with a stack of tokens from the rat pizza place. They don't fit as well and will jam occasionally.

Thanks for sharing. I am particularly interested in following progress as I also had a cursory interest in buying this machine. The one arrangeball I have seen in person I believe was using dollar coins. Seems like a 3D printer and the hinges off the lower door of a pachinko machine should fix the door problem.

Ok probably not of much use to you (but could be useful for anyone reading this in years to come )

Is that the newer 10p or the older larger 10p (two shillings)?

dollar coins and quarters work but some adjustment may be needed to the coin discriminator. they're more interesting to use and feel better in your hand than the lightweight tokens. concerning your original post about plugging the machine in right away, check the wires, fuse(s), and carefully re-seat all the electrical plug ins (on circuit boards), examine the boards for broken traces, and you should be ready to go. sometimes the chips on the circuit board mounted to the back of the machine are bad and usually they are replaceale. other circuit board components can obviously go bad on these old machines as well.

I use tokens in my arrangeball machine. I was using dollar coins but found that they kept disappearing for some reason.

User Chumsize just posted in the Members Trade area that he is selling arrangeball tokens at a good price. He is fairly close to you in San Jose so could save you shipping costs and wait time if you are in a hurry to begin testing.

Quick update: I plugged it in and surprise, surprise, the lights came on (and it appears they all work too). The ball shooting mechanism works fine, but I'm not sure about the various solenoids (the one that drops the balls, the one that drops the tokens, etc). The "Game Off" light is lit when I power it on, don't know if that's because there aren't any tokens in it, or if there's something wrong with one of the sensors. It will be a little while before I can spend some real time working on this, but seeing it light up was a nice morale booster...

Another quick update, I put a bunch of quarters into the coin holder and played a few balls and it dropped a coin when I hit the center tulip. The ball drop mechanism worked when I put a quarter in too. Looks like, aside from the cosmetic issues, that I got lucky with this one. I'm going to start cleaning it up next weekend. I'll post some more pics after. Also have to start working on a cover for the front...
