    Great thinking there Mopar.

I'd still like to find one of those A100s. I liked the look of them and being cab forward.

    100 machines and counting...

Here is one of the few Mopar vehicles I have owned. It is a 1966 Dodge Dart with a slant 6 motor and "three in the tree" column shift. It was one of the more reliable cars I owned in my earlier years.

This one isn't a Mopar product, but it was one of the most memorable cars I ever got to drive. It's a 1933 Packard "Super 8" touring car. My grandfather found it rotting on a hillside back when my dad was in college. The restoration was a family project, and many parts had to be fabricated, such as the right headlight and the running light on the right fender, as well as the left wing on the swan hood ornament (my uncle was very handy with that type of work!). The car rotated around in the family for years at my grandfather's request so it could be enjoyed by all.

I had the pleasure of driving it on several occasions, learning how to double-clutch it for down shifting, and building my arm muscles so I could steer it (it was as heavy as a tank!!). The eight cylinder engine took 14 quarts of oil, and you had to dip a stick into the gas tank to see how much was left. When we drove it on hot days, the radiator would boil over and cover the windshield with rusty grime. The chrome radiator grill had heat activate louvers that would automatically open and close to help keep the engine at a good running temperature in inclement weather (quite an advanced feature in 1933!!).

After my grandfather passed, the car went to his best friend's family with the same instructions that it be passed around for all to enjoy. The last I heard, it had been fully re-restored about 10 years ago and was put on display in a winery up in Washington state somewhere.
