Default new member, first ever machine, Nishijin, Chevy open

I was given a Nishijin chevy open type machine. some of the lights are missing. This machine came to U.S.A thru Target abroad ltd. which was in El Segundo, ca. way back when (may be 1973ish). Would there be any paper work on such a machine? How it was wired, how it works and so on. I have never seen a pachinko machine till I was given this one to try to get it working. thanks for any help

    Welcome, welcome, welcome.

There is paper work on your machine. It is called a Model B on this forum. There is a manual you can find here and on other sites for the Model B. I'm sorry; but I'm not able to post a link to the manual.

Your machine is missing some wires that go to the jackpot light and switch. The lights are not required, at all, for your machine to work.

What is nice about your machine is the playfield does not have a lot of water damage.

You need about 300 pachinko balls to get it to work, 1000 would be better. You don't want any rusty pachinko balls or dark ones. You don't want ball bearings.

Your machine is also missing a few dust covers and I didn't see a wood frame that holds the whole thing, maybe you took it out of the frame?

In the vintage forum on this site, there is a sticky post with a model B video, watch that as a first step.

thanks for the info. it has no frame with it. It looks like someone cut the wires and removed the jackpot light. I only have 3 balls but plan on buying more. I don't know about the dust covers your talking about or where they go. only been looking in to it for 3 days so far. ok on model B video first step will look for it thanks. Also there is a lock but no key but don't need one. I've started to take it apart today and clean up the parts. been taking pics to help remember were things go.

Very cool machine, looks in good shape for its age. As CarlW pointed out, the machines electrics don't need to be in working order for the machine to work. Its also work checking to see if any balls are still in the jackpot mechs, mine jammed until it was cleared of all balls first. FYI ebay is a great place to find pachinko balls.

    You don't need a key.

You also don't need the frame or the dust covers.

When you do set up your machine; the top would be leaning back about 1-1/8", out of plumb, at the parlor in Japan. The frame has this tilt, more or less, built into it. you need to do something to hold it close to that angle. Try it plumb and if it works well, great. But if pachinko balls are getting stuck between the glass and the playfield, lean it back a bit.

thanks unhappyelf will check out the web I saw some for sale the other day. CarlW will try the 1-1/8" lean, I was trying it with just the 3 balls I have and it was tilted about that much and worked fine.

    First to Pachitalk

What you have there is a 1972 Nishijin Model B (Chevy)

Here is a link to all import manuals for a model B machine
    http://pachinkoboy.com/import-manuals/model-b-manuals

Most aren't very informative and say to adjust things in ways that aren't really advised. But they are cool to look at and give you a rough idea of how things work.

More importantly take a look at this video a member made that explains how everything works.

with a bit of wireing and some parts it would be easy to relight your machine.. the jackpot leif is still there and though your missing the jackpot cover that holds the light in the center with a bit of creative work you can put a light back there with no problems.. the cover makes it a bit easier but not required at all..

nice clean machine.. most of us started with allot worse

    and of course
