    Default New Member, First Machine

First off hello everyone! I have wanted a pachinko for a long time. I happened across one at a antique shop right before Christmas and I couldn't leave without it. I have no idea there were so many brought in during the 70's. Any way I ended up with this.

    IMG_20150104_192316468.jpgIMG_20150104_192310579.jpgIMG_20150104_192301609.jpgIMG_20150104_192248797.jpgIMG_20150104_191407822.jpgIMG_20150104_191353069.jpg

With some research I think its a 73 Nishijin Super Deluxe. I used all of the tools on this site to try and identify the center but I haven't seen anything like it. Can anyone shed some light?

Also the mechanism seems to be fine and runs balls just fine. The electrics need some work though. the reed switches seems to have seen better days and the wiring is spliced in a spot. I would like to convert to LED and maybe even add some but, I would like to know more about the machine before I start changing it into a LED light show for my amusement lol. Thanks for any info!

    It's a Model B, alright!

    Welcome to PachiTalk.

I have seen that center feature before; it has no special name.

Thanks for sharing your pictures and excitement.

If the machine works now and pays out, GREAT! That 98% of the fun.

The light bulbs can be replaced with screw in LED bulbs and you don't have to change out the sockets. Do they work at all?

Yes the lights work, but the switches are dodgy. I'm looking to do some restoration on the machine, and I'm wondering if it would be worth while to replace the field graphics. The pins need to be replaced or cleaned and the trim around the window(which I assume is chrome) has light rust. Is there any great source of information for restoring these machines?

The switch contacts can be sanded with 150 or so grit sandpaper and the leaves can be straightened. Problem is that when the switches are handled; sometimes the wires come loose.

A playfield replacement is a lot of work but well worth the effort. There is a "sticky" thread in this forum by member Cardwii. There is another thread, currently ongoing, where Cardwii is replacing five model A playfields in one BIG project.

The pins can be polished. I use Cardwii's method of a small amount of polish placed on the side of the pin with a Qtip and cotton, 2 pound, string.

The metal frame can be removed and cleaned with 000 steel wool and soapy water. The metal frame can also be soaked in rust remover.

You need another machine to take apart and leave this one working! Or just enjoy what you have; some members say, if ain't broke...

WOW for a starter machine it looks real clean!!! That light rust should come right off. James's book is a good start for walking you through restoring a machine. Beware while it is not difficult it is not something that takes a half day your first go round. Have fun!!!

Nice machine, welcome to pachitalk! Mopar is right, they are just plain loud. And like Mr. Al said, restoring a machine can take weeks to clean and repair. And even longer if the machine has a circuit board or fancy electrics. But anyways, its not all that tough and don't get discouraged, it's just time consuming. Hope you have a great experience on pachitalk!

Welcome to PachiTalk and thanks for posting photos. Looks like you got a fun machine to start with. Just be careful, they have a way of multiplying.

Yeah I already was looking for another in the Houston area but didn't have any luck on CL or ebay. Prob for the best right now, don't need them multiplying at any great speed.
