What did you get for Christmas??

I'm giving out scratch off tickets, cash and dog treats as usual this year

I'll probably be getting a couple of gift cards

usually I'll buy myself something expensive

but, I spent under 10 bucks for my 2 presents to myself this year.

I sniped them from seller Zix knives on Ebay with free shipping

    Browning 22 cal 1911.
85% the size of a full size and has identical but smaller parts unlike other 22 cal 1911's on the market.
Put about a thousand rounds thru it, much cheaper than shooting my " real" 45.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1419966297.480265.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1419966312.968255.jpg

Mom sent along a card that Auntie had sent - a couple years ago. I was reading on the gift card pack about how it evaporates over time and wondering if there was any left...

Saw an item on our local news about how Oregon law forbids gift card evaporation. Card could be decades old and still full value. It also said that if I spend the card down under $5 they have to pay out the change in cash.

Reloading is great fun. I used to reload 10 gauge shells by the thousand when goose hunting growing up. Saved money to spend on decoys and reloading supplies.
I save my 45 brass but don't have reloading gear for it.

My 20 year old son asked for a shotgun. My wife and I decided against it since a shotgun is a rather unusual firearm for my son who does not hunt. I did have a shotgun at his age which I purchased myself for the purpose of goose and duck hunting which I did frequently. My son, however, does not hunt. He said it was for recreation and self defense.

My wife and I decided against getting him the gun since there were too many options and currently when you buy a long gun in CA, I am required to place it in my name. We told him his birthday would be a better option as then he could also have the option of a handgun.

We've not bought guns in my family for nearly 25 years, however with this changing political climate, I decided it might be prudent to get now what might not be available in the future. I ended up with eight new firearms last year. Two AR-15s, a Ruger Blackhawk .357, a Ruger LCR .357, a Rossi M92 .357 (lever action - can you tell I'm a fan of .357?), a Remington 870, a Sig Sauer 226 in .40, and a second Ruger 10/22 (just because they are so much fun and cheap to shoot).

I've owned a Ruger Blackhawk .357 convertible, an old 870 20 gauge pump and a 10/22 ruger rifle.

all fun to shoot I've also had a 30cal carbine ammo marlin levermatic and a 44 Mag/ 44 special marlin texan lever action

My wife loves the lever action. It has very little kick to it and when I use .38 hearing protection is not even needed. She also enjoys the AR's, as long as her ears are on. I never thought I would get her into shooting. In fact, I train so much at work, I don't find shooting as enjoyable as I once did. Now that she's actually asking to go into the yard and shoot, we're having a blast. I'm still working on the handguns. If she doesn't find them fun, I'm fine with that; I just want her to know how to unload them and make them safe, etc. She still relies on me too much to go over the operation.

Oh yeah, did tons of that as well. I had a few of the cheapo throwers you stuck in the ground over the years. They work ok but always pulled themselves out after a few throws. My favorite was always the manual launcher-just a stick that holds the clay pigeon for you. Work great, cheap and last forever. One buddy even had a ritz cracker thrower but that was insanely hard to hit. Good practice for dove hunting though.
