Default Another "what have I got here" thread :)

    Hey all,

I've got an old machine that my father purchased for us when we were young (about 35 years ago) which he recently found in the house and gave to me. With the help of all the great information available here in the forums, I've been able to get it working, thanks! I'd like to get her cleaned up and mounted in the basement so my kids can enjoy it like we did. I've noticed that one of the plastic linkage parts has broken off which operates the small door on the front that allows balls to load for play. I have to manipulate this manually and had considered taping it in place but I'm sure there are adverse effects. From what I can gather, it's an overflow stopper.

It's a Sanyo-Bussan that I've dated at 1980, with expiration code 56-6, but I can't seem to find a photo of a similar rear setup to ID the part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    innova

your arrow is point at the low ball mech.. this will stop balls from being loaded if your top hopper is empty.. so long as your have enought balls in the hopper it should work.. of course if something is broken then your might have problems..

please post a closer picture of the "broken linkage"

    and of course

Cool machine. Almost has a carnival type look to it.

Welcome to Pachitalk and thanks for the photos.

That is a very nice Comet II. That broken piece shouldn't really come into play under normal use. You would need to let the front bottom tray overfill with about 500 pachinko balls before that lever moves. I have not seen one like that exactly.

I think the wire is on the wrong side of the white peg (see red circle) But if it's working for you, no worries.

If you are referring to the silver rod, that's a see saw reset. You push up to reset the see saw so the right side is up adn the left side is down. Also, looks like you have a Comet II. Those see saw mechs are notorious for reset issues. I had one that I had to add some fishing weight to the left side so it would reset correctly after a jackpot.

It looks strange but im not so sure its broken?? if there is a part missing im not sure what it looks like or what its original function was?

I agree 150% move the wire to the other side and everything looks ok to me...

I have moved the wire to the other side of the peg. This changes the function from the peg pulling the wire, to the wire pushing the peg. I have attached a better angle of the broken piece to show where something has broken off of it. I'm assuming this missing piece manipulates the long vertical wire running up the entire length of the machine which actuates the moving bit of the ramp coming out of the upper tray (and the ball tray empty contact switch). The only thing that seems to be not working correctly from a play standpoint, is that I have to manually move that vertical rod mentioned previously to open the small orange door to allow balls into the machine from the upper front tray.

Thanks again for all the help guys.

Sorry, guess my last post fell into the bit bucket. Attaching a closer view of the broken part. The missing piece to me seems it would attach to the long vertical wire that attaches to the moveable portion of the ramp below the hopper that indicates an empty hopper. I have moved the wire to the other side of the peg as well. This changes the function from the peg pulling the wire, to the wire pushing the peg.

ok let me see if i can get this for ya

the wire that travels from the top to the flag is the low ball stop.. when the top hopper is empty the flag is droped.. that action should keep ball from entering the shooter..

the second part is the "moved the wire to the other side of the peg " this wire is the lower tray over full switch..

there is a plunger in the jackpot tube.. when the top front tray is over full of winning balls will be diverted to the bottom front tray.. if the bottom front tray is over filled balls will back up into the tube.. this action will push the plunger out and deactivate the shooter no allowing the player to continue play until the lower hopper is emptied out..

like posted above this is really rare in home play cause most of us dont have enough balls to support this much winning..

    take a look at this

    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vintage-pachinko/33927-model-b-video.html

at about 1:30 in the vid is the point that might help ya

then again at 320 for the over fill plunger

    hope that helps..

my mail point is your machine looks ok.. again im not 100% its right (not broken) but looks ok to me

If the upper tray is full, this vertical rod should be in the correct position, the small orange door should be open. There is a set screw that can be adjusted; if this is not the case with your machine. You had mentioned you were ordering more pachinko balls; this may all be resolved soon.

This is the part that is broke. A counter weight. I think that is why someone rigged up a spring. But it has nothing to do with the front tray flag. This is one of my parts machines!

Thanks Carl, that's a great photo, I can hang a fishing weight from it and call it done

So far the machine is playing great, appreciate all the help in getting going here.
