Hi Everyone, my name is Hugh, I am new here. I just bought a my first "real" pachinko machine (I've got a couple of the toy Epoch ones) off craigslist recently. I got what looks to be a early to mid 90's (??) Nishjin "Ban Ban Jump" machine; complete with rotating ash tray! It seems to work properly, it shoots balls, lights up, makes sounds, and the previous owner said it pays jackpots, but it only had 20 or so balls so I can't really test it yet. I have ordered 500 balls off ebay...can't wait!

Only problems with it are the key is missing (suprise suprise!) and maybe the front glass/plexi is missing? There is only one layer of thin plexi directly on top of the playfield...is there supposed to be 2?

I think there were a couple of pachinkos with the Ban Ban Jump name, I believe one dates to around 2001 and not 100% sure but could be a 'Hanemono' style of play, I think at least one of the Ban Ban Jump models was a Hane

I have rotated your pic for you:

Thanks! I could not figure out how to rotate the pic. I did find a youtube video of what looks to be the same model machine in action...is this considered a Hanemono?

    to Pachitalk!

No machine has a key. As the keys never left japan. So if you do find a machine in the US with a key that is a rarity. It is also typical for only one sheet of plexi. You can add another if you want, it helps reduce noise a little.

I must be lucky as a lot of my machines came with keys, including my Urusei Yatsura 3 that has a different lock/key than the standard omrons. Thank goodness.

As for the glass. I'd move the plexiglass to the outside slot and put real glass in the back slot, because I like the proper sound of steel on glass, plus I'm slightly mad

seems to me that older machine like this don't usually have keys.. new machines seem to have them... unlike true vintage machines that almost never had keys.. i have never seen an original vintage key myself.. only pictures hear.. even then i dont know they are original..

    nice machine and of course

Welcome to PachiTalk and thanks for posting a photo of your machine. I'm with Drunkenclam on this one. I much prefer the sound of metal on glass to metal on plexi.

    WELCOME!!!

Pachinkos sold in the US didn't really start to come with keys until around 2006-2007.. So most older moderns you find probably won't come with a key..

This site is great!...I just figured out how to pop out the glass frame to get access to the plexi with that hidden lever, it was FILTHY on the inside! Looking much better now cleaned, I plan on getting some glass cut ASAP to put on the inside as everyone recommends for proper "plinking" noises I did a bit more research around here and it is indeed a "Hanemono" style play machine...how much more desirable/rare does that make it for a modern machine?

I see the "1" and "2" pockets...are you supposed to get a ball in 1, then 2, then the "arms" on the center feature open? Just trying to figure out what to do to get "fever mode" Any suggestions?

once you get a start on a fever just keep shooting balls, your bound to hit the correct combination that way

Alright let me rephrase that. Most machines built before 2000 didn't come with keys.

    Happy?

Um not much seeing that is what a majority of them were. But at least you don't have a digipachi. I got an early one of those and it is pretty boring to play.

Cool, I liked the vivid colors on this one, I seem to prefer the look of vintage to pre-LED screen modern machines (Julie the pinball as exception)...and the price was right at $60 My 5 year old seems to be very interested in it too! The balls cannot arrive quickly enough!

Hanemono (or Wing type) machines were very common until the late 90s..a few new ones still do come out each year though..So they aren't really rare, just not as common as they used to be..So you may not see them come up on ebay or CL as much as they used to..As for desirable, Some people like only Hanes, but its not like the most popular type of pachi or anything, but I think they'er Rad!!

As for the 1 and 2 pockets, a ball in the 1 should open the wings around the Center Feature once, a ball in a 2 should open them twice!! You are trying to get a ball into the center feature, then have the ball go into a special hole in the center feature usually marked with a V.. Get a ball in there and its Bonus time!!

Thanks for educating the "newbie"! Just curious, does anyone know the approximate year my machine was made? Sometime mid to late 90's? Or later than that?

The best I could find was a page that listed it from 2001-2002..

    Talking Re: New member

I'm in business now! I got some glass cut for the playfield, and the 500 balls I ordered finally came, it pays out jackpots just fine. Very fun to play....it took several minutes of playing to finally get on a "fever" I guess...where the wings kept opening over and over and it started blaring a lot of noise and paying out as fast as I could refill the top! I guess I should have ordered 1000 balls in retrospect...Lol. Does anyone know what the LEDs next to "3" ,"7", "15" above the center feature indicates? Is it something to do with the 15 rounds?

Yeah... randomly you get 3, 7, or 15 jackpot/fever rounds. See the video posted above... in the video the "3" lights up, only 3 rounds...
