    Default Shooting too soft

    Hi,

so just finishing putting my Maruto back together and have an issue where shooting is too soft. I have to have the spring at it it's tightest position just to get the balls to just make it to the playfield. I tried tightening and loosening the nuts on the hammer but nothing has seemed to help. The spring it self while having some rust seems strong enough. Not sure what could be wrong. Any ideas?

    thanks,
    Mike

cut an inch or so off the spring thereby increasing the tension. keep doing this until the tension is where you want it.

Looks like the track staples were removed for a cell replacement. Check where the small spring on the hammer protrudes through the lower ramp of the track...where the ball rests waiting to be struck. Look to see if the spring is centered on the ball. If above or below center of the ball. it will not impart as much force as a center strike!

    :doto:

and if the striker spring is centered ya might see if adjusting the rubber stopper that limits travel can be adjusted up a bit allowing more travel.. ie more penetration of the striker spring (the stopper that you have pictures in both pictures above)

Thanks guys. I will check the spring alignment first and then see about moving the stopper next. I cannot get to it tonight will have to check in the morning. Thanks again, Mike

If it ends up being that the hammer is out of alignment, the hammer can be gently bent to bring it into its proper position. I suspect this is the problem if the machine was shooting fine before.

Thanks again for the responses. I checked and the spring was dead on center but only just basically coming through the hole where the ball sits by I would say 1/32" so I took out the nail of the stopper and and The screw closest to the stopper on the metal part of it and just loosened the other screw and just rotated the stopper up maybe a little more than a 16th of an inch and that was enough to have the spring move deep enough into the hole where the balls sits. Tested it and the balls now shoot perfectly. I was concerned that when I did the cell replacement I did not line up properly. When I separated the playfield from the case there were no alignment pegs like the others I have done. I wound up using two of the top nail holes where it was originally nailed to the case to align it which seemed to work fine. I think the issue with the stopper was the screws I used were different than the originals and may have pulled it in too tight towards the hammer.

Now I just need to adjust the playfield nails where they are too tight. Nearly done (I keep saying that)...

    Thank you again!
