    Default Azteca Machine: OF Error Code

    Hey there.

    I'm new here, so I hope I am in the right place.

    I recently bought a token machine off craigslist. It's my first machine and I am still learning a lot about it. It is an Azteca machine. It has been working fine so far, however, recently when a user hits trip 777 and enters the Big Chance mode, the machine will throw a OF code in the pay display. Turning the key to reset it seems to work, however, I was wondering if anyone can identify what is going on with it. It didn't used to give this code and would just proceed to Challenge Mode as usual, but now i need to turn the key every time to get to continue to function.

    Anyone have any insights into what might be happening with it?

    Thanks!

    I haven't personally seen that code, but I'm certain somewhere here can help you soon. Welcome!

    Does the machine throw the code at the beginning, end or during the bonus mode?

    It seems to go through the whole progression of the bonus round. Then it throws it. When i turn the key it does the light spinning to select between 1 of 8 different lights at random and continues to function for however many free games it throws out.

    I'm going to take a guess as to what's happening as I do not own that machine or one from the same manufacturer. Parlors could buy machines which had the option of shutting down following game play after a big bonus. When this happened, the machine will often (but not always) display "Game Over" and would always dump your remaining credits into the tray as tokens. If this is happening, your game is set in that mode. To rectify it, you will need to find the switch inside (generally on the power supply) that selects that mode. One switch is always the power switch, a button on the power supply or door is the one that selects odds during a hard reset, there is sometimes a hopper button which starts the hopper motor and starts a dump of the tokens (into your lap or on the floor), a reset switch (usually keyed, but sometimes not), and the selector switch which allows players to play beyond a big bonus or require an attendant to arrive and reset the machine.

    The power supply will unlikely have all of these buttons/switches, but may. The power switch is obvious, and the reset switch, as stated, is usually keyed. Those two functions are always on the power supply. Of the remaining buttons, try playing with them. If you hear the hopper turn on, you know it's the wrong one. If nothing happens at all (this would have to be a rocker or flip switch, not a momentary type) it is probably the correct switch. You will not find out until you reach another big bonus.

    OF error code is normally warning you of an overflow. When the tokens pile up in the overflow bin and make contact with the metal prongs.

    There are normally two switches on the power supply, or could be located elsewhere in the machine. One switch requires a reset after winning a bonus round. This could be causing your error.

    Here are some examples of the switches.

    Thanks Wayne! I was just guessing OF meant OFF, but none of my machines have ever displayed an error code after doing a big bonus shut down. Overflow makes sense.

    Thanks alot for the advice. It does have two switches like these on the power supply. I messed with them a couple times but never really found a use for them. I am hoping to get to a chance to play with the machine tonight. If this fixes the error I'll be on to close my ticket.

    Thanks again.

    I'll just pop the reset instructions in here, it also gives the japanese characters for On / Off for those 2 switches

    "How To Set the Skill Levels of Your Pachislo
    HOW CHANGE ODDS:

    "TURN YOUR MACHINE OFF FIRST"

    1. Locate internal key switch, and insert key.
    Note: In order to change odds, machine must be in idle mode with no tokens/coins or credits being played and off.

    2. Turn "reset" key switch to on, to access programming mode.

    3. Turn on machine now.

    4. Depending on machine type, a number from 1 to 6 will be displayed on one of the LED meters on front door. (please note on some models the numbers could be displayed inside the machine)

    5. Locate and push Skill button. Depress button and notice movement of number being displayed in LED meter.

    6. Once desired level is displayed (1 to 6), push down on play handle (Joy Stick) for 10 seconds, and depress both "BET CREDITS" and "COLLECT CREDITS" buttons to lock odds level into machine memory.

    7. Turn "reset" key back to off.

    8. Machine should immediately initialize. If not, turn power switch to the OFF position, wait 15 seconds and turn power switch back to ON position.

    Also just to confirm some additional info (from member Chrisdice) regarding hard reset

    Two switches on the power supply:
    - One requires a soft reset at the end of a bonus.
    - The other pays out all tokens at the end of a bonus.

    For these switches in most cases off is in the down or right position. The for off and on are:

    無 = off

    有 = on
