Default Need some help starting out...

Hey everyone, I'm new here and am having some trouble working my new machine.
If it's not too much trouble, would someone mind helping me out?

I just bought an Evangelion 7 machine from Akimono and am not quite sure how some of it works.
When plugged in, the screen and moving parts seem to work perfectly fine and the slots spin when I drop a ball in the pocket.
What I'm having trouble with is that the ball launcher doesn't seem to work when I twist the handle.
There's no dongle plugged in back so I'm assuming I probably need one to get the launcher to function.
The small number display in the back is giving me a 7, some kind of error?.
When I put balls in the payout(?) tray at the top rear of the machine they just drop through and out the bottom, is this normal?
I'm also not sure what those knobs are to the left of the number display.
And is this neon pink thing the ball stopper?

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me out.

check the box and all packing, the dongle may have fallen off. are you holding the shooter and the ring on it at the same time??

there should be a small lever along the right frame side to stop the balls from falling thru. the small forked piece by the top back tray is to stop the balls when you are working on it.

if your talking about the 3 loose knobs they are your volume controls

contact the seller, they should be able to help you out

Regarding the shooting handle, did you make sure to have skin in contact with the metal ring on it? All you do is hold the knob in position while keeping in contact with the ring, and the machine will do all the work for you. It's actually a security feature to keep you from just setting the knob and walking away.

I've checked all the packaging and rummaged through all the packing peanuts but I haven't found it.
I guess I'm gonna have to contact them about it.
Either that or invest in a card emulator.
I think I found that lever you were talking about under a little flip open cover, it stopped the balls from going right through the machine.
Now the number reads 8 instead of 7.

I made sure to keep in contact with the metal ring, but it still doesn't seem to work.

It sounds like the dongle is missing. The machine is supposed to come with it. Contact Frank at Akimono and he should be able to help you out.

Is the dongle definitely not there? Sorry can't really see the pics properly from my ipod

but check if its there as it just may need jiggling or unplugging and reseating if its worked loose or has been knocked.

Don't know if the dongles are usually separate in the packing from this supplier or if they are usually fixed in place?

You have 2 levers in the ball path, one is the stop, the other is the dump, make sure the stop is open (forked prongs) the other normally located just above the payout motor. The older Sankyo had a white knob for this.

I sent in a contact form last night.
Hopefully I get a reply soon.

The port is completely empty and I didn't see anything else in the packaging.
I'm guessing it was just forgotten, or maybe it wasn't supposed to come with it and I didn't know.
It's kind of depressing just having it sitting here unusable lol.

It took a while for me to figure that one out.
I was looking through the lumina frame manual to find similar design mechanisms so I could troubleshoot.
Turns out it was a sliding switch hidden under a swing out cover.

    Drunkenclam ,
Please share more info. How would one go about making a dongle? I have an early modern machine that works without the dongle. But I would love to build a dongle and get full use of the machine. What would the 2 little buttons on the front do if I had a dongle?
    Thanks

not the clam but i can reply..

the buttons on the front were used on the parlor to rent balls.. pushing one of the buttons will dispence balls directly from the top back hopper to the shooter tray.. there is an led light that counts down keeping track of how many times the player selects it..

if your machine operates with out one then you dont need it.. if you would like to make one to turn on the ball loan option thats another story.. (i dont know how)

Member DaveRob makes such a piece ,and there great.. he also has a card reader system that will allow you to load credits and use those credits on all your machines that are hooked up..

its a neat system.. take a look at it hear on his web site

Frank from Akimono contacted me recently saying he would send me a dongle so I guess that solves the launcher problem.
    I have another question though.
On the back of my machine there's an ethernet port, if I plug it in will it let me use online features?
There's also an array of very colorful switches, I'm guessing I shouldn't touch those?

That sounds kind of cool, but I don't really have access to tools because I'm living on campus at college.

It's not an ethernet port, it just looks like one. It's actually for the verification kit that they use in the Japanese Pachinko Halls. When the police want to check that the machine is genuine and that the software has not been tampered with, they connect a reader to this port and it checks the code running on the controller chips.

As for the switches, I'm not familiar with this frame, so would need a photo of them to see if they look like something familiar.

Huh, so does that mean the QR code generated by the machine for creating accounts doesn't require an internet connection?
These are the switches I'm referring to.

Those are not switches, but are hookups for a battle counter or data counter.
A device that tracks spins, bonus rounds etc. Just do a search for battle counters, here on PachiTalk,
and you will see tons of posts relating to these flashing pretties.

I don't think so. I don't have any machines with this feature on, but I think most of them work by showing codes on the screen (or QR codes on the screen), that are entered into the website to update your progress in the game. There's a few posts around here where people have gone through the registration process and documented how it works.

The 'switches' you pictured are actually wire terminals. You flick the 'switch' part to open them up, insert a bare wire, and close the lever to secure the wire. The label next to them with all of the Japanese writing on it explains what each of them is for, but the short answer is that they are signals that are activated at certain points during gameplay or when some error condition has occurred. Typically they are connected to the machine monitoring systems, so the attendants know if a machine has been opened or is out of balls, but some of the signals (start pocket hits, bonus round start, and kakuhen) are intended for the 'battle counters' that sit above the machines and show the players the recent statistics for each machine (and also add to the light show while playing the game!).
