Default Newbie first post, transformer swap question

    Hi,

I collect my first Pachislo machine at the weekend, it's a Aristocrat and has a baseball player on the belly glass. It's still all wired original jap spec and the last owner was using a step down voltage convertor to operate it. I live in the UK and we have 230v. I have a 230v to 24v transformer which is rated at 10amps, which I'm planning to install inside in place of the original tx. My replacement tx is also fused and I think I will replace the mains cable to the machine as well, along with the correct plug!.
Can someone please inform me if this sounds like I'm doing the correct thing and is there anything else I need to look at?

    many thanks from LUKE

    First of all

    Welcome Aboard
Secondly. As just a quick word of caution. Some slo are 24v, some are 100v I have one of each voltage that came straight from Japan. The 24v one came with a transformer in the case. Just check your data plate to confirm voltage.

Most of us Brits on the board just use the Maplins 240-110 300W step down transformer for running American products. Especially if the machine still has the Japanese 2 pin plug. Probably what the previous owner did too.

Although if you want to fit a new transformer inside the casing, then you can do, although I would put a new 3core flex in with the UK plug and connect the earth to the transformer casing.

Might be on the back or side, should list the machine name, voltage, power usage (watts/Ampage)

Picked it up today and I have already converted it and everything is working ok.
replaced the internal transformer and flex cable / mains plug. Also put and extra on / off switch on the rear of the machine. I had to drill out the front lock and also had short the reset switch, to do a reset due to a e6 fault. Will have to get some replacement keys and locks, plus a volume control as it's very very load!.
Is there anywhere in the UK that sell any spares?, I see that there is a few from the states on Ebay selling a few bits

    cheers from Luke
