Default Picked up my first machine last week

Many thanks to all the posters here who have provided a wealth of knowledge for those of us that are new to the hobby (obsession?). While I am sure no one will be salivating over my run of the mill Nishijin I will go ahead and post a couple pictures anyway for the benefit of those newbies such as myself. The machine could use a good cleaning, but plays great. I have seen a bit of conflicting info on this machine. I have seen it identified as both a 1970 and a 1972 Gen 1 Recycler. I also saw somewhere in my research that the machine was likely made in Osaka based on the red label. Any additional info or confirmation on the date would be appreciated.

You don't know this group very well. Doesn't take much to make this crowd drool.

If you get a chance, please post a close up pic of the center feature. I'd like to get a closer look at that.

    to Pachitalk!

What you have there is a 1971 Nishijin Model A Osaka (super tulip).

In 1971 Nishijin had 2 factories. One in Tokyo for sure but the second one isn't exactly known. I say it was in Osaka because from all the information I have gathered that is where it points to. Another member claims it was is Kyoto. So you may also hear you machine be called a Kyoto model. It just isn't really well known.

Anyways it looks like a nice machine there. I don't see anything major missing.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Here are a couple photos of the center feature as requested by Browne92. If a ball enters the center feature via the right or left channel pay pockets the arm drops blocking that pay pocket until a ball enters the center channel and resets the arms into an upright position. I've included photos of the arms in both positions.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome.

I am the other member Max referred to. Your playfield is the L-G (flower wave ) which indicates an early 1971 machine. It seems to predate the standard 1971 gen1 models, and will have the loading mech attached to the playfield instead of the door. As far as I can tell all of the L-G playfields have this configuration.

1970 models are pretty much all front overflows for Nishijin. This machine was the first fully autoloading machine produced by Nishijin, in the very late 1970 or early 1971. Where it was produced is uncertain, but it was quickly followed by the Gen1 1971 machines that are very common in the USA.

Thanks for the info Max and Rival. My neighbor grew up in the Osaka area in the 70's. I usually bump into her about once a week. Next time I see her I will ask if she knows anything about pachinko and the Nishijin company. Maybe she can shed some light on whether the factory was in Osaka or Kyoto. If I find anything out I will be sure to share it here.
