Question Should I get this one? New to the Pachinko world...

I was offered this working machine with balls for $50. Should I get it? The balls also have symbols on them, but no clue what they mean.

    well...

to be honest its perty dirty.. the cell has some water stains.. not allot but it is stained.. the track cover is missing as well.. the chrome is not in the best shape either..

balls are worth 6 cents each.. they should be marked (as your describe them) so figue out how many balls there ar and take that from the 50 bucks.. that is your cost of the machine.. looks like a 20 doller machine to me ... '

    your mileage may vary

imho.. but i have 20 of them

    Mopar,

What is the track cover? On the front or back of machine. He's offered me two of them for $50 total. I can clean them up, so not too worried about cosmetics, mainly mechanical. I'm guessing it's pretty old???

Thanks very much for your time, and input. Since I'm getting 2 for $50, I may just get them as a project to learn more. That way if I kill them, I'm only out $50.

Thanks Mopar. I loved playing these in Japan in the 80's. Never thought I would start owning them. In 3 days, I now own 3 of them, and mint home use only 1978 cleopatra pinball machine, and who knows what's next...

I think vintages are great if you have little people around, as they can fire balls at their own speed and with the proper nail tweaking they can have a lot of fun with out constant supervision. Like having to keep refilling ball trays. Especially the model A recycling type.

As for prices and styles, can't really comment on that seeing as I'm in the pachi Barron lands of the UK.

Love antique mechanical slots! Didn't know dime machines were a problem! MOPAR...are you referring to US DIME machines, or SEGA 6D machines converted to use US DIMES?
Post some pics in a new thread if you get it!

the problem is with the dime itself.. dimes are thin and inconsistent (the older the dime the thinner it is) making the machine hard to keep adjusted.. payouts are therefor inconsistent as well

i concur with mopar on this one. my friend HAD a dime machine and constantly jammed up due to thin dimes and also dimes do not have enough bulk weight to them. we always wondered what the casinos did about these issues? which i am guessing why you would see nickle machines and quarter machines.
